I'm sure we've had Air India 777's parked on other stands than where Emirates park currently. Can't believe the A350 would be too different in height to the 777.

A while ago on here there was discussion about whether Qatar would use the 789 on the BHX route once they were delivered. Well Qatar have finally chosen GEnx engines for their orders, and these aircraft are due to be delivered between August this year and the end of 2021 - essentially 1 a month.

Thoughts on whether BHX will see Qatar's 789's at some point in the near future?

I'm really interested to see what Qatar will do with the BHX route in the future, I haven't looked at the numbers, does it perform well?

I was hoping when they flew that A350 for the route anniversary that they were testing the water but who knows.

Without knowing the yields it's hard to say with 100% certainty.

So far this year Qatar have averaged just over 70% load factor at both BHX and EDI (70.74% at BHX vs 70.72% at EDI, assuming all flights operated).

In the 6 months prior to Qatar using the A359 at EDI, they averaged 68% load factor up there. So purely in terms of LF, things are looking good for BHX's chances of getting an aircraft upgrade. As I said at the start though, that rather depends on what yield they've been getting.

Wasn't there mention on here that the A359 had to use steps for some reason? Did we ever find out if that was just a one off problem or is the A359 not able to use the airbridge at BHX? Have the TUI 789's used airbridges at BHX whenever they've visited? At least if they do we know there isn't a problem with the 789s.

Tbh I'd be happy to see any permanent upgrade from Qatar. They've been serving BHX for just over 3 years now and so far we haven't seen anything new from them.

Completely agree with your sentiment, but I suppose I'm also just happy to see a route launched at BHX last because we haven't seen many of those in recent years without them being withdrawn after one or two seasons

I think it will all depend on what seating as allocated to B789s, A350 maybe a bit too big at present as it is a
large step up from B788, just looked back att CAA figures and average pax load is 140 per flight upto May

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
