I was going to start a new section with an annual comparison of daily and rolling movements and then I realised that I was in hospital between 21st & 31st December 2022 inc – good idea scuppered, however here is a sample and I’ll recommence it with January data.

Hadn't realised as many as 37 diverted away. I guess if your glass is half full, there's relief as many landed as did. If half empty, MAN was extremely unlucky compared to other airports with that awful combination of gusty winds from the wrong direction,, frequent squally showers and wind shear previously referred to.
As far as passenger stats go, does MAN lose all from the diverted flights except those that returned by air; or are those pax that arrived back by bus included? I assume pax checked in at MAN for a departing flight but who were then coached to another airport, because their inward aircraft was diverted, are counted.
Those 37 diverts could have carried 7,000-8,000 pax, and then there's the cancelled flights. Some of the latter could hopefully be accommodated on other MAN flights even at this busy time of the year, others possibly to another airport. For Dec'23, 1% equates to about 20,000 pax. so when the month's figures are released, it will be interesting to see whether there is any noticeable dent compared to what was expected.
Subject to any other issues before the 31st, I suspect there will be nothing too obvious.

I seem to recall that, when I was just a lad, the airport had just 4 flights on 25th December - BOAC transatlantic services.

I imagine the December passenger stats will be published soon. It will be interesting to see if December continued the growth trend of recent months compared to 2022, and importantly how we finished the full year. That in turn will show how far MAN still has to go to beat it's previous annual record which I believe was about 29.5m. passengers.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
