Hi Scottie

Yes my first post for a while. I monitor all Manchester posts everyday its just really that there hasn't really been much excitement recently in regard to Manchester, your TP updates are always good though I have to say having been round with you.

Last nights outbound re my screen at work had 297 souls on board which is amazing for a first day.

Cheers Scottie and everyone on the thread, the Juneyao launch should be very interesting.

Hi again folks.

As promised I have a weeks pax figures as follows for the resumed Bangladesh route.

Sunday 5th 258 - 297, Tuesday 7th 148 - 269, Thursday 9th 57 - 276, Sunday 12th 165- 366. All are inbound first. Outbound very healthy indeed will settle down in time.

Another observation the loads for the Ethiopian route are creeping up recently. Could be due Christmas I agree but inbound to Man has had 101 lowest and 167 and 164 at high end. Outbound lowest 74 and highest being 135 and 136.

Lets hope for Thai very soon!!.

Cheers from Sergeant Bilko.

Just looking at FR24 and noticed G-DRTL (Jet2) on approach from Shannon. According to the FR24 history this shows as its first flight under Jet2 ownership having been in storage at Shannon since September 2019.

Heads up with a difference! Dire forexast for Iceland means FI440/441 is amongst 24 Icelandair cancellations tomorrow

Hi all

With reference to the above this mornings Turkish from Istanbul was cancelled, so I presume both todays flights have been combined together, hence the B777-300. I'm not in work until later in the week so I cant verify the pax numbers.

Cheers from Sergeant Bilko

Just a quick question, is it quite easy for some pilots to forget to switch the strobe lights on their aircraft for take off? Seen a few taking off recently off 23R and they definitely weren’t on...

Just a quick question, is it quite easy for some pilots to forget to switch the strobe lights on their aircraft for take off? Seen a few taking off recently off 23R and they definitely weren’t on...

Depends what the aircraft is - depending on the airline, during setup on the A320 (and other Airbus aircraft I imagine) the strobe light should be set to 'auto'. Normally when entering an active runway the pilots should then select this to 'on' but in case they forget, having it set to 'auto' means the strobe lights turn on automatically when the aircraft leaves the ground.

Not sure about other aircraft types...

As Coathangar16 says the strobes on the A32F have an 'AUTO' setting and this relates to a multitude of sensors not just air/ground sensing, it has inputs from the Throttle quadrant, Brake management and take off config, am sure there are other inputs also, it has been a while since I worked the A32F. On the Emb 170/175/190/195 and Boeing737NG/Max they are manually selected and is part of the checklist items but they should be switched on before entering and off just after leaving the active runway.
There are exceptions to this in the form of Dispatch deviations under the provisions of the MEL ie on the E-jet you can dispatch with the strobes u/s but you have to place the red beacon maintenance switch to bright.

Guess most of these movements won't now happen assume all bar the Ethiopian were football related?

Several of these are for the teams taking part (not fans). They should run as planned. The Level A321 on 19th is for the game in Manchester which (at present) is set to proceed as normal, so fans may still travel over. If permitted, a match featuring Linz playing at Old Trafford will be considered the chance of a lifetime by their fans.

Hi folks

An ex Thomas Cook A321 regd G-TCBB has just landed at Manchester from Ostrave presumably where its been stored as it has no recent flight history. I couldn't make out the colour scheme from here in Timperley. Is this another one for Jet2?

Best wishes from Bilko.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
