Not surprising at all.

Let’s hope Emerald see the potential for this route in the near future…
Doesn’t surprise me either tbh I’ve always found eastern to be a joke when it comes to operating flights. Hopefully Emerald or Flybe might see the potential.

Disappointing but not surprising hopefully another airline like Wizz, Emerald or Flybe will pick the route up.

The Welsh Government have probably told them they are not renewing the Valley route. With the prospect of several hundred jobs coming to Anglesey, if the Nuclear reactor goes ahead they may need a Valley service.

Welsh Government has announced that it has scrapped the CWL-Valley route, I don't suppose we will see Eastern at the airport any more. They could have announced this ages ago.

I suspect that they were waiting for the local elections to be done with before announcing it.

There is talk on the other forum, that Eastern are to use a newly obtained E170 for use on a scheduled route to Paris CDG, could this be used for a CWL route on a W pattern?

I should have mentioned that the new E170 was to be based at EMA.

IMHO T3 are the last airline we need to operate what should be a "safe" route to Paris - they chop and change their schedules like the weather! Just look at their record historically... 🤔 and their fares are often sky-high. Not a good choice, but the position CWL is in it can't afford to be fussy these days.

I agree, it would be much better to have someone like HOP on the route but as you say CWL would be grateful to have any airline to restart the route. It is very disheartening to see a lot of other airports all getting back to pre pandemic levels, and CWL still struggling. Let's hope the future is brighter.

I think with Paris at the moment it's a case of beggars can't be choosers. It's a route CWL needs back. IF it's on a jet and fingers crossed back by an Air France codeshare then that's something.

If the CDG routes returns a codeshare with AF would be a great help. Additional connectivity for South Wales.
If CWL could get a daily to FRA that would be amazing too. You cannot grow an economy with zero connectivity.

Positive steps …

Sounds like it’ll be a daily service (Hoping for some sort of AF codeshare, although their ORY operation isn’t as extensive as CDG by any stretch).

T3 aren’t the ideal operator for a Paris route as noted by others above (They aren’t exactly renowned for being low-cost), but … It will be a route reinstated nonetheless, and a platform for growth.

Besides, what is the definition of an “ideal” operator for a Paris route?

If they do come back to CWL and find the route to be successful for them, they may be persuaded to try Jersey, Glasgow,or Cork in the future they would have no competition.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
