May just be Air Indias press announcement today that they have now firmed up and signed for all the Airbus and Boeing orders.
Hopefully not.

I don't think that BHX would be tweeting 'exciting times ahead for Air India and BHX' simply on Air India ordering a very large number of aircraft. They would only make such a statement, if it has positive implications for BHX. What that could be, we will have to wait and see.

Air India had never ordered the A350 until this order.

These 6 were destined for Aeroflot, hence the speedy delivery time to Air India.

But joking apart there is a real opportunity for AI to ramp up flights to multiple destinations in India and maybe over to North America via BHX.
Hans were planning Toronto and destination AI served from BHX a few years ago, so the demand is there,

If memory serves it was 6 weekly overall, 3x weekly in each direction.

Unfortunately it was cut to protect slots at LHR.

My recollection from that time is that very few passengers travelled between BHX and YYZ as demand ATQ - YYZ was high. These days AI has no need for intermediate stops on its North America services.

Emirates has no need for intermediate stops on its North Amercia services but they do, DXB - MXP - New York ?

They have the 777-200LRs which can easily do DXB-JFK however their seating is a lot more less
