Manchester having a bit of a mare with its fuel system, apparently it has failed, they can’t take any arrivals and apparently (don’t take this bit as gospel) the next update is at 2am, BHX has taken some diverts already and there probably will be more

Yesterday it was MAN's turn for problems at the airport, today BHX with a fire alarm resulting in it's evacuation.

Thankfully it was nothing. At least the fire fighters had a good supply of water now that the water fountains have been installed.

Que social media posts about peoples holidays being ruined and one moaning about not being able to get a 'free' glass of wine in one of the lounges. Heaven forbid there was ever a real fire and one of these people ends up being injured or worse. I'd like to say it surprises me but these days it really doesn't :banghead:

There is a sad culture of entitlement running through society, the one that people need to vent their spleens when put out and a sudden onset of FOMO erupts and staff fear for their collective wellbeing.

When a fire alert sounds, I could not care why or what or where the problem sits, simply exit the scene purposefully without attitude or elbows as all will become clear to those that need to know.

I am qualified as Risk assessment and management and the biggest problem faced by those tasked to the job is Humanity and collective self interest, herding people is an unenviable job due to human autonomy. My deepest respect to airport staff both at MAN and BHX.

Even if there was a real fire and people were burning all around them the faceagramtwitwhat whingers would still care more to moan like heck about the inconvenience of surviving but being delayed. As with most on that type of social media, best ignored.

And what's with all the selfie pouting....but that is going off topic.

Glad noone was hurt and the evacuation was conducted efficiently, quickly and safely.

Its really a non event. Every airport suffers from these types of evacuations from time to time. I think Manchester had one just a couple of weeks ago. I guess it is stressful for passengers but these things happen.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
