not sure that makes sense? if anything BA have reduced flights to MAN over the years rather than increased. Rotations have been removed as well for the upcoming winter timetable, there are large gaps now in the schedule where there are more than 4hrs between flights. BA seem to be quite happy to restrict demand on domestic routes.

Always tried to support the BA service via T5 at LHR even to the point of a long wait - when the service was three rotations the timings were not that good. Whilst I am pleased to hear loads are up on the reduced service, I haven't used it as the timings now are virtually useless for me. I have taken direct flights from MAN recently with other airlines but frankly the MAN experience has been poor. Flights OK but the airport seems to be struggling with infrastructure - T1 recently was like a rugby scrum - struggled to get to gate at end of the pier. 40 minute delay due to delay in loading luggage then further as there were 'six aircraft to depart in front'.Coming back 20 minutes sat on aircraft as no-one to operate air bridge! Such a shame BA are tossing away long haul passengers from LBA.

I agree, I use Manchester for long haul only really , flights are fine, it's the airport that isn't pleasant. Otherwise I use Liverpool which is even more handy for me.

A lot of my flights are now rebooked to MAN, although I am staying on LBA BA flights where I can. I am slowly growing to hate MAN more and more now for many of the reasons you noted. Also the train journey back to Leeds seems to be getting more miserable over time.

Is Newcastle an option for you?

Just had a look for all Nov and Dec and it looks like we are going to start getting a total mix of A319/320/321 from the Winter timetable.

Some of my forward bookings are showing as A321s. This may or may not last. They were put in the timetable a few weeks ago but they may be swapped back to A319s at some point. I hope we do get a few larger aircraft prompted by demand though :)

Longer term the A319s are starting to be retired from 2019, I think 8 are due to go next year, and some are being transferred to the LGW fleet so i guess we may possibly start to see A320/A321s regularly at LBA over the next few years.

It's amazing how many more connections the retiming of that evening flight hits - with a 1 hour T5 change it now gets some European destinations rather than just long haul - lets hope they fill the bigger planes!

Regardless of the fact the A319s are starting to be retired and transferred next year, more capacity on some flights will encourage pax increase as we know some flights operate full and of course no one then knows exactly how many extra seats could have been sold on those full flights. Whilst the A320 and A321 op flights may, and I say may, mean we see a reduction in load factor, I bet it helps increase the LF on the remaining A319 flights. I see this as a positive move from BA which was long overdue following the previous capacity and frequency cuts. So let's hope it helps them realise the routes potential!

Air Bingley - No one should be encouraged to take multiple stop inter European flights period !

There are far better point to point offerings to the vast majority of destinations from the regions and with far better seat pitch in the main !

The BA A32x - Fleets are largely interchangeable at very short notice cepting the new A320neo’s which almost exclusively work out of T3 at the moment.

Why not? They are often more convenient timing wise and many of the airlines that operate hub systems are better than the ones operating point 2 point.
As well many airlines that operate hub systems operate from the smaller airports which the point to point airlines don't.

Once you go beyond a few European cities tbh there are not so many point to point options from LBA. I (probably like many this side of the Pennines) prefer not to go over to MAN if I can help it and a connecting itinerary trumps a direct flight from MAN for me. KL is another option from LBA of course.

I think Air Bingley is just pointing out the facts. I am sure most can make up their own minds about what suits them.

Yes the A320neos have only operated out of T3 so far. Whilst the A320 series is interchangeable, a few routes tend to see almost exclusively one type such as LBA which has (apart from a handful of occasions) been an A319 route.

Jerry with exception of KLM ( and that’s only because off their Shell contract along the east coast) the major legacies UK spoke offerings are dire beyond the 4 largest regionals.

They certainly do NOT connect into the smaller centres that just not true.

And as for KLM from those smaller centres in particular their fares can be mind numbing !

They do offer some reasonable fares via the consolidators from time to time but don’t expect flexibility in your itinerary either.

Again the regionals are the home of the flexible fares and point to point operators these days.
These carriers also provide far more local employment opportunities than those legacies have ever done.

Other than mileage runs ( another myth as they cost you up front on those business fares) to earn status and rewards (bribes) the legacies offer little on short haul other than INCONVENIENCE and longer travel times via intermediate points imho.

But do note my point was should not be encouraged!

Clearly KARFA and Bingley might prefer jobs for Hounslow Spelthorne , Hillingdon and Slough then ( code)

Fact is BA in particular haven’t yet proven real commitment to Leeds have they !

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
