Just as well there wasn’t a Viscount Max 8 version then! On a more serious note the seemingly appalling safety record shows just how far aircraft design and aviation safety has come since the Viscount first flew 71 years ago. One month after I was born!

Adjusting for inflation, on average fares in Y across the Atlantic are cheaper then they have ever been - a lot of that recently is due to competitive pressure from the likes of Norwegian. That meal doesn't look the best but I wonder what it tasted like.

I’m currently in Argentina and flew down with Norwegian on Thursday night. I paid the low fare plus option and got a meal, 20kg bag and seat choice included.
The meal....well....I went for the beef and can honestly say it was the best bit of cow I’ve ever had on a flight. Dessert was 2 macaroons but they were fresh. Presentation in that box was a bit strange but the quality was absolutely spot on. 2 glasses of red and a Pepsi. Breakfast service into EZE was a cheese omelette, sausage and beans. Croissant and jam with juice.
You can order drinks and snacks from your IFE during the flight with your card and they bring to your seat.
Overall.....far FAR superior to the British Airways flight I took to EZE in May. As soon as I’m home I’m booking again for October.

Airbus A319 G-EUPF, which went tech last week with a sick nosewheel that apparently had a mind of its own, is still at LBA, and has been towed to the Eastern Apron, where it is languishing among the Jet2 aircraft, including G-LSAB. Rather unusual to see a BA aircraft parked in that location. It is clearly a serious problem that isn't an easy fix.

British Airways may be waiting for hangar space to become available at Multiflight. If so, they could be waiting a while with it being a busy maintenance base for Jet2.

Saw a picture on Twitter over weekend of it.. Doesn't look to good with a buckled nose wheel landing gear which happened on push back not on landing.

This Airbus isn't on the apron this morning so I guess it's in a hangar (doors are closed) or it's returned to Heathrow.

Looking on both the BA source website & flightradar24 it would seem British Airways Airbus A319, G-EUPF positioned back home to London Heathrow at 19:50 last night on a Speedbird callsign as "BAW9272".

When we pushed back on Monday all was well until the tug (not sure if they are called that) had to detach but we were there for at least 10 mins as I think it was stuck ....every 30 secs os so the nose of the plane seem to be bouncing up and down 3 or 4 times (I was sat in row 2) and after a while I was convinced it couldn’t detach without a bit of force....is this possible if not what could it have been and could this have been the reason for the BA plane having its problem?

Sounds like a stuck pin. The BA issue from Friday was very different and occurred during the first few metres of pushback.

Similar incident at Manchester back in 2016 seems to have a connection to the use of the tug and it's effect on the structure of the nosewheel over time.

So, during August Bank Holiday, we have the Ashes Test v Australia at Headingley, and the Ebor Festival at York, and the Leeds Festival at Bramham Park, whilst down in London we have the RL Challenge Cup Final at Wembley (which always attracts a lot of neutral supporter from Yorkshire), which is all great, except that Network Rail are closing the East Coast Main Line between Kings Cross and Peterborough for major engineering that weekend, so no trains to Yorkshire (or anywhere else for that matter). Just when there are likely to be loads of folk wanting to reach these parts, there are no trains. What an opportunity for BA to step in with additional flights and/or larger aircraft. They would surely do well - although, BA pilots have today voted to go on strike during August. What is the betting they will choose the same weekend? I believe though that BA are seeking a High Court Injunction tomorrow to prevent the strike going ahead over the busy period.

Hate to say it, But you've probably guessed it by now.

All British Airways winter 2019/2020 flights between London Heathrow - Leeds/Bradford have now reverted to show operated by Airbus A319 instead of the larger Airbus A320 that had been showing in the website up until this weekend.

For 23 July, northbound still a fair bit of space, southbound is full as you say. Loads are running around 76% from January to May.

BA, whilst not alone, are missing a trick here in my eyes. With all the turmoil going on with LCC's now is the time for the mainline carriers to sell and promote their enhanced products/cabins. The requirements for First class in the industry maybe on the decline but there is still a healthy demand for Business. I know BA are likely to suffer strikes themselves but if they start to earn increased revenue from a better Business Product then they can pay their pilots. Speculate to accumulate and all that. They have the money.

You are very right but BA give the impression that management, bold thinking and strategy are in very short supply these days. They were lucky Freddie Laker was dead and Phil Meeson concentrated elsewhere. That is why, service wise, Meeson has eaten their lunch and Jet2 is now where BA used to be. Different markets, yes, but poles apart on looking after the likes of us.
