Good point about the press Lbaspotter. It will make a superb photo shoot opportunity.

They will probably need the de-icer trucks rather than the fire engines. Would help to get the first outbound out on time as well!!

Anyway, I see that flights are on sale going into summer 2013. For example, all 4 Sunday arrivals at 08:00, 12:20, 14:50 and 20:10 on 21/7/13 are down as A319's.

Big-Man i think you'll find that British Airways start to upload flights nearly 18 months early on to there website so to get the advance bookings. Also I understand that its normal for the Airbus A319 to listed on all flights as a the default aircraft until the schedules are revised at a later date.

I didn't know that actually, as I am sure quite a few others didn't either.

Those times would indicate that still no night-stopper for next summer then :(

Plenty of time for that to change, but they would still load up flight times as they are now to get the bookings. They can always change them later and notify pax. Its certainly very much on the agenda that an earlier morning departure is required, which would also suggest a later evening arrival to night stop. It will be a surprise to me if it hasn't changed by summer 13. Time will tell as usual

Every chance of a n/stopper next Summer but it all depends on how the Winter season goes.

If people support the route the offering will be improved. If they don't it will be pulled. The schedule for next Summer in ba.com is just a skeleton to facilitate any early advance bookings. If they make significant changes to the schedule ie a n/stop then they will simply contact anyone already booked and sort an alternative booking out at no charge. Standard practise.

No decision will be made re next Summer until they see what demand there is.

Over to the people now. Let's hope they support it.

Thank you for your first post ridgeback and welcome to Forums4airports.

The slight catch 22 is that without the night stopper there are some people who will find it harder to use the service.

My usual work flights are to travel out monday morning via AMS to Norway (usually OSL or SVG) on the 2nd KLM departure (around 10am) and back friday arriving on the last KLM. That gives tuesday-friday mid afternoon working.

I can get out okay with the BA connections, but coming back is more tricky. That said, if I may well see if I can make it work via LHR if when the BA service starts up to give it a go.

I fully understand yr situation cmj and I also applaud you saying you'll see if you can support this new venture if at all possible. If everyone does that we will see an improved offering slot wise and a BA presence for many years to come.

My fear is a lot of people shrugging and saying "the slots don't work for me so I'm back on the train or KLM etc" They are entitled to say that of course but they mustn't moan if the rte subsequently fails.

BA have only announced a few new rtes since the BD takeover and the fact that LBA is one is terrific for our region, they were unlikely to allocate it a perfect schedule from day 1, it needs to earn the right to the best slots - they are a scarce commodity. Lets concentrate less on the slots and more on how much we have all wanted someone to do this rte for the last 4 years. The prospect of BA starting 4/day LHR-LBA wld hv been sheer fantasy 12 months ago.

As I said before, I think the most revenue will come from frequent flyers, that is Oneworld card holders. KLM Flying Blue card holders are unlikely to change allegiance unless they are on the bottom rung. It's not because they don't like BA, they don't want to throw away benefits like lounge access, 40kg baggage allowance, priority booking and airmiles.
Now if BA invited them to join Oneworld at the same level, that could pull many away from the Amsterdam hub. Maybe I should write to WW.

I see that the Leeds-Bradford airport website homepage has been updated. As the advertisement for the new British Airways flights to London-Heathrow now has a count down clock added which is ticking away until the first flight takes-off.

I think that somebody has forgotten to change the forum's time setting from BST to GMT when the clocks went back a few weeks ago. So all posts are still showing BST rather than GMT at the min, Well until it's changed.

Noticed last night that British Airways new Leeds/Bradford - London-Heathrow route ("Leeds/Bradford to the World") Advertisement has now started to appear on the side of some buses in Leeds.

Also user001 is there any chance you can get the British Airways Alpha Numeric flight codes for the new LHR-LBA-LHR service which I understand will be operated using the "Shuttle" ATC callsign and SHT flight code?

Noticed today that Leeds/Bradford has now started to appear as a destination in British Airways One World partner’s website as flights via Heathrow to the USA are now bookable on the American Airlines website using the Shuttle service.

But we are still not listed as a destination in either the Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Lan, Qantas, Royal Jordanian or S7 Airlines website as yet.....

Got into the mood this weekend. Lots of BA 319's and 320's to look at...and 321's, 737's, 747's, 767's and 777's.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
