So did BMI use autoland at LBA on 32?

Yes bmi british midland did accept a CATIII approach onto runway 32 using the Airbus A319 aircraft after doing plenty of testing and training. But I understand both the Airbus A320 & A321's were only allowed to accept CATII approach.

Sounds like the A319 is more suited to LBA then. Makes me wonder though why the previous flight diverted to MAN. I assume autoland allows the plane to land in zeo viz.

Currently on 14 with sky obscured. BA1340/41 canx accordingly.

Everyone knows LBA gets its fair share of weather but this timing is awful for this new operation!

The wind is easterly and only 7 kts according to the met forecast, Rvr is 1100m, Cat 3 Ils available with less than a 10kt tailwind. My company would not have cancelled and we would have been expected to make an approach.
My point is if I was travelling onwards from Heathrow this morning I would miss my connection. Using the Heathrow connection becomes unworkable if the operation is unreliable. I stopped using Klm from Lbia in the winter as I missed my onward flight to Bahrain 3 times in one period due to the fokkers being only Cat 2 and unable to land at Lbia and in those days several local companies had a "do not use lbia "in the winter policy.
We need the new service to be reliable or the business guys will stop using it.

I have been told today that from April next year, BA have canceled the 1st flight if the day. Source was reliable but I have not checked the booking system

Hi BigMac
I think you need to go check some of the older posts in this thread, As the details have already posted on here, Think it was Tuesday evening when the change in schedule was first noticed.

Hope that helps.

Ah my bad, I've read so much on here recently

Major problems on the east coast mainline this evening, delays of several hours to/from kings cross. Given the recent weather delays impacting the BA shuttle, I guess tonight is one tick back in favour of the airborne option! Any improvement in loads over the last few days?

Loads for tomorrow (capacity on all flights is 144):

BA1340 LHR-LBA
booked 74 (but 43 are staff on Stand-by travel, never seen a figure that high on ANY route before! Will be interesting to see if they all turn up)
BA1341 LBA-LHR
booked 56 (6 standby)

BA1346 LHR-LBA
booked 39 (only 2 standby on this one lol)
BA1347 LBA-LHR
booked 37 (5 standby)

BA1342 LHR-LBA
booked 32 (no standby)
BA1343 LBA-LHR
booked 31 (no standby)

BA1344 LHR-LBA
booked 14 (1 standby)
BA1345 LBA-LHR
Booked 13 (no standby)

i have 1342 as 21, 1344 as 62, 1347 as 43, 1343 as 81 and the rest as per your figures so something not stacking up somewhere

Could the high staff travel figure be possibly due to Leeds v Chelsea game due to take place on Wednesday evening? Just a suggestion.

I can only go with what is booked in the system via waterside HQ. Must be some late push-through bookings and deductions, because, as you say, the other figures match.

On looking the 1343 actually has 82 booked, looked at the wrong flight.

but you still say the 1344 has 14 not 62 ?

Church Fenton i can't see many Chelsea fans travelling 36 hours before the game but it is a mystery...

Well im happy the figures seem to be picking up even if its still way off what it should be.

Im a firm believer the route will be a sucessful it just needs time to mature.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
