Not accusing you of being dishonest user001 but ill have you an imaginary beer the BA1344/18Dec has nearer 62 people on it than 14.

I'll check tomorrow night and report back.

Hi Ridgeback - I was having a discussion on the evening southbound flight when at the airport last week and wondered if you could clarify something. If a passenger was to book a connection for a morning departure ex-LHR and travelled down on the evening flight the night before, would the bags be checked through and the check in process be completed in LBA. In otherwords, on arrvial at LHR at 10pm, could you disembark, check into a hotel for the night and then proceed straight to security in the morning.

If so, we contemplated that it could be quite an attractive option to hit the morning departure bank ex-LHR. The airport are in the process of embarking on a big promotional campaign with travel agents in the region, supported by the BA sales team. The online booking process doesn't seem to give too many choices for the overnight connecting option, but I think the trade can offer more flexibility and it might be an option for the US.

PS - photos from the launch last week are here

No doubt there will be 62 on it Ridgeback, as sometimes the system does have discrepancies. All I can do is the same as you, which is look at a computer screen and report what it says. I would rather there were, as increased pax means increased profit, which in turn keeps me in a job!

As for your question LS16, if your bag is through checked then it can be held for up to 12 hours as a long transfer.

LS16, I am 99.9% certain you would have to collect your luggage and re check-in the following morning.

LS16. I think you can through check it and it will go to the T5 bag store and be on loaded to your flight the next morning while you go to yr hotel with just yr hand baggage.

Thanks for the photo link

Thanks. Have a specific example in mind which is the 12:00 to LAX, so have dropped a note to the Exec club and will see what they have to say. Hope so, as would be a useful option.

For those interested, today was the day the BA sales team came to Yorkshire and they went visiting local travel agencies with the airport team. The airport have appointed a consultant to work solely on marketing the route; for those with access to Twitter, you can follow her progress via @AnjCameron

Lba trade-sales is the facebook account the airport use to interact with the local travel agencies. Some good pics of the BA trade launch there and the recent marketing push for the Thomas Cook summer 13 programme

Oh and BA1343 had 85 on board

And BA1347 had 50....

The system was obviously working fine when I checked the loads...

Loads seem to be improving a bit then, but I guess we really want to be seeing loads of 100+ on these flights.

Here's the reply from BA....

Thank you for your email enquiring about through-checking your baggage.

You can have your baggage through-checked only if your British Airways flight connects with another British Airways or oneworld flight on the same day.

Even though if you book this as a connecting flight, the airport views this as a stopover as your baggage would have to be stowed overnight. For this reason you will have to collect your baggage from your first British Airways flight and check your baggage in again the following day for your next British Airways flight.

I hope this information clarifies your concern about baggage transfer.

Regards

....makes the evening flight significantly less appealing

Can we stop with the sarcasm please, before it gets out of hand.

Well Im sorry but Im being treated as if I am making information up. As I have pointed out, I am merely quoting what the figures in the system were at the time, yet it seemed to turn into a p*ssing contest where 'my figures are better than yours'.

When I am only trying to add info, which to me is honest and truthful as I see it, is just not called for.

To be honest, Im rather p*ssed off anyway. I have come onto this particular thread with good intentions, as I thought it would be rather nice that for once, a thread can have direct access to information from the inside (that is not confidential, obviously).
For example, I thought it would be nice, that, for once, whilst not exactly great news, it would be interesting to hear exactly why a frequency has been cut, but apparently, I am 'jumping to conclusions'. How, that is possible when I work in the very office responsible for cuts/increases, is beyond me.

I try to quote passenger figures, as again, I thought it would be nice to see future load forecasts, yet Im treated like Im making information up.

Obviously a nice, open and welcoming community (as long as you only post good news about LBA), any honesty that appears to be negative to LBA will not be tolerated! :good:

All I am saying is that Sarcasm is not tolerated as there is no need for it, simple as and end of...

User001 the information you’ve posted on here and figures regarding the passenger stats of the British Airway's London Heathrow - Leeds/Bradford schedule has so far been informative and your efforts is appreciated.
We seem to have a good open topical discussion going on by yourself and several other members on here over the past couple of days and week. It’s been open, honest and fair. We have welcomed both positive and negative information about the route and not blocked anything as there has not been the need to do so..

hi user001
i just wondered with you working for the company, are the slots at heathrow good or bad,
and if you had your choice what time slots would you choose to meet the waves, and would you have waited until the new year to start the service.
your info on the load factors is much appreciated keep them coming.

regards

hi user001
Just to add to Snowman1 comments ---your input re: BA and LBA is very much appreciated and I for one look out for your posts. Keep up the good work, your insight
is valuable to this debate and I do not see anyone making personal comments about you on this forum. Many thanks again.

Dont want to loose you user01 so disregard the silly digs and keep the info coming and make sure you work hard to pay my pension. Merry Chritmas to all.

As this is a British Airways thread I would like to say the "dove" paint scheme on the A319 is not to my liking. I think the normal scheme is much better.
Any other comments welcome.

I'll take the reprimand on the chin! Apologies if I overstepped the mark.

I am sensitive to what I see as unnecessary knocking of a brand new route and to be fair the loads quoted were rather innacurate which is all i was trying to point out. it's not doing great but it is doing better than that. I also found the insight into commercial decisions very interesting so thank you.

I note that RTM loads are picking up better than LBA over the last few days although LBA continues to improve.

I feel quite strongly that 4/day from a standing start was very ambitious.

good stuff ridgeback !! after all its the season of good will to all.
I think we are all hoping loads improve and we hang on to the route for as long as possible,so lets pull together.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
