It makes a refreshing change for Ryanair to openly admit they have made a mess and not blame someone else.
When you compare MOL putting himself forward and BA response to their IT failures, it does shine a better light on Ryanair then BA, who put no leading excutive forward to explain whats happening.
There again MOL has at least 4% share in the company, which concentrates the mind, whereas BA chiefs are salaried.

I had a quick look at one of the national rags while in the take away on Tuesday. There was a big story about a family right royally screwed by Ryanair....and yes you guessed it.....travelling from LBA!! Any I thought that we were one the least affected airports!!!

Ryanair have had one flight cancellation at Leeds/Bradford that been last Fridays Bratislava flight.
Sadly it effectived most customers, as the where only going for a weekend. The airlines Leeds - Bratislava route only runs twice weekly.

Ryanair gave customers the option of a full refund or they tried to reaccomadate them on to the next available flight, which would have been on Monday. But that's when most of the passengers the were due to return.

So hence alot of them complained through social media platforms and that when the press picked up on it over weekend. I heard it first on BBC Radio 2 news bullitins with comments from the effected Leeds passengers.

LBA management today advised that Ryanair are looking to make the cancellations principally on their high density routes (BHX - DUB was quoted as an example), so that the impact on passengers is lessened due to the availability of more alternative flights, and they confirmed that no further cancellations out of LBA are planned.

Looks like Ryanair have removed all there planned Summer 2018 flights programme from been on sale. This dose not just effect LBA it includes every single route, network wide.
Also looks like the has been some major changes made to the winter 2017/18 programme from selected bases, But thankfully again this dose not include LBA.

Winter 2017/8 Cancellations

Ryanair has issued a list of 34 routes that have been cancelled for this winter to help the airline cope with their pilot rostering/leave problem.

There are various cancellations at some UK airports, but LBA retains all planned schedules. Let's hope this means that forward seat sales are buoyant from our airport.

Barnsley Holidays

This situation is getting worse by the day, I never known Ryanair to totally axe 34 routes for the whole of a season just a a few weeks before hand. Okay they have chopped and change schedules before or announced the grounding of aircraft.

The bosses at Easyjet, Flybe and British Airways will be wetting themselves laughing too much this afternoon knowing they can now wipe up on all the London - Belfast and London - Scotland routes over the busy festive period. It will also possibly allow them to increase fares as well.

I'm just glad Leeds/Bradford seems to have escaped the latest round of cuts yet again.

All the good work Ryan have done in recent times in cleaning up their image and purporting to be a more caring airline (plus keeping O'Leary away from the cameras) has been scuppered by the recent cancellations at virtually no notice and to add insult to injury this further cull of flights from their programme will have made many think twice about booking with them in the months ahead.

What re they playing at? Even though I used them earlier this year, I must admit with some trepidation given their reputation, I don't think I will be risking it again in the near future after this latest episode.

I think there are going to be a lot of people thinking long and hard before booking to travel in the next 6 months.

So were MOL's comments about the Supposed woes of Monarch and Norwegian a blatant attempt to try and deflect attention away from a major problem he knew he had coming from his own airline? He knows that pax are going to lose confidence in booking with FR so has he tried to minimise that impact by attempting to shed pax doubt on ZB and DY. As has been said elsewhere its BA, LS and U2 that will be laughing all the way to the bank just now

So the airports CEO David Laws said that the majority of Ryanairs 10,000 extra seats to be added from LBA next summer will be mostly on its Eastern European routes, eg Poland
I wonder who the guys down the A1 at Donny airport took that news? especially now Wizz Air seem to be cutting back..

Does that therefore mean that Ryanair are not putting much extra on as a direct result of the Monarch collapse? Monarch never did Eastern Europe.

Once you get into promotion speeches it is difficult to know what is new, what is replacement, and what is expansion.
At least they have got some positive news and if the demand exists it may continue.

I said I would seriously think again about booking a Ryanair flight but the cheap fare was just too good. Wroclaw on the 8th Dec for the Christmas market back on the 11th £38 with window seats pre booked.

Looks like Ryanair are going to add more aircraft to its UK bases for Summer 2018 to take up some of the slack after Monarch Airlines recent collapse. Hopefully it will mean Leeds/Bradford base will see some growth, especially if they fill in any of the remaining gaps which haven't already been picked up by TUi, Thomas Cook and Jet2.com

Possible 4th based aircraft anyone, or more flights been operated by away based aircraft?

I would imagine LBA management would prefer more flights from other bases, rather than another based aircraft.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
