Also I was watching a video last night of a trip between BHX-Skiathos with TUI last week and I still find it weird to see Ryanair parked at the main pier and the old Eurohub not being used for any flights at the moment
But its the same all over Europe, at BCN Ryanair/Easyjet/Vueling all share the same terminal that Vueling use. The older Lo-cost terminal is out of use at the moment.
Just like the airlines grounding older planes as they're less efficient, so will airports keep closed the older, less efficient terminals.
Eurohub at BHX closed, LHR only using T2 & T5 (the newest terminals), LGW South Terminal closed (the older one).
Newer terminals are generally cheaper to operate as they've been designed that way.
