Sorry if I'm being thick here but to me, it doesn't read like they're selling up completely, the press release states "while keen to remain invested in the assets...".

Does that mean the assets of BHX and BRS and they're only selling part of their holdings or does it mean assets of the same type, in more general terms?

The release also states "minority stakes"; it's less clear with BHX but they own BRS 100% so the implication to me is that they're retaining some (most?) of their holding.

Anybody?

First of all nothing has been announced officially. The report emanates from 'a source familiar with the matter' but given the conduit through which it came to light it's probably true. See #1545 above.

The report suggests that OTP is looking to sell a minority stake of its holdings in both BHX and BRS because it believes there is currently a strong demand for this type of asset, ergo it would be able to secure a good price for the shares it sells.

It's partly analogous to an individual buying shares in a company that rise rapidly in value. The individual wants to take some profit at what might be a favourable time but doesn't want to sell all their shares as they believe the business is such that the shares will grow further in value.

I say 'partly' because OTP actually owns all the shares in BRS and around half in BHX and so has hands-on control that a small shareholder would not have in a company in which they owned shares which are bought and sold at the rate set by the market makers.

The report suggests that the likely buyer (or buyers?) would come from pension funds or other long-term investors.

Paying BHX a visit today 1st of the year ;)

As it looked nice and sunny we packed a picnic and headed for the viewing area with the kids. Obviously by the time we got there the wind was howling and the rain started coming down.

Hope you had a better day than we did? :)

With summer on the horizon things finally start to get busier at the end of the month, the 26th is the busiest date with 5 new services starting. Obviously Jet2 is the main attraction but there is much to look forward to.

I can't wait for the peak summer months (y)

March

Norwegian: Barcelona returns at 2x weekly and Malaga increases to 3x weekly. Las Palmas is now no longer bookable and Tenerife reduces back to 2x weekly, so overall the same number of flights.

Vueling: Barcelona is now up to 3x weekly with further increases in April. Paris Orly starts on the 26th initially 3x weekly, rising to 6x weekly.

Wizz Air: Budapest goes back to 3x weekly with the return of Thursdays. Bucharest goes 3x weekly moving to Tue, Thur and Sat.

Blue Air: Bucharest goes up to 4x weekly. Larnaca starts on the 26th.

Czech Airlines: Go back up to 5x weekly gradually increasing to daily.

Ryanair: Four new routes this month. Porto and Reus on the 26th, Girona on the 27th and Chania on the 28th.

Eurowings: Vienna starts on the 26th.

Jet2: Commence operations on the 30th with Faro and Malaga. Alicante, Palma and Tenerife start on the 31st.

Great summary! I must admit to losing track with all the changes and I'd completely missed Blue Air upping Bucharest.

At 7x weekly Bucharest will be our highest frequency Eastern European route, at least until Prague takes over.

Although only 6x weekly I think that, with 3x 738 and 3x A321, Sofia offers the most seats? Bucharest does go A321 for winter so who knows for next year?

It seems ridiculous that these were unserved for so long.

Hi there Barry, I think what I read into the article, is that ontario teachers pension plan may only want to sell half of their 48 % stake in Birmingham Airport, for say between £800,000,000 million or either £1,000,000,00 billion or even £2,000,000,00 billion, depending on which investment organisation was interested, well just have to wait and see.. According to this interview with Prince Sanyang Africaada now have aircraft and approval to fly into the EU??????? :shifty:

Oh yeah, they're also going to build their own terminal at Banjul

Asked on the state of their own aircraft, Prince Sanyang said: “As it stands now, all our aircraft are fully licensed and approved by the European Air Safety Agency (EASA) couple with EU state Civil Aviation Approval to fly and serve in the European Union (EU). “With our state-of-the-art generation aircraft, we can boast of same if not better and safety and quality service as many of our potential competitors registered in the Gambia or even in the sub region,” he said.

Out of interest, does anyone have any figures for how many based aircraft there will be at BHX over the summer period this year?

Off the top of my head

Flybe 14 (I believe one overnights down route)
Monarch 10
Thomson 7 (The 787 is travelling overnight and arrives early morning)
Ryanair 5 (4 either side of the peak summer)
Thomas Cook 4
Jet2 4
BMIR 1

Night stopping we have

Lufthansa 2
KLM 1
Brussels Airlines 1

If this has been brought up before then disregard and accept my apologies.
Likewise, if it should be in another thread then feel free to move.

Does anyone know anything about a new handling agent starting?
I believe it is called Premiere Handling, and so far has the BMIR contract and looks also to have won the Air One contract.
I believe some people previously involved with the Aviator company are involved.
Other than that I know very little about them.Anything further would be appreciated.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
