Yep the Singapore arrival is on flight radar 24 for tomorrow! Truly great to have it nonstop - I think I have underestimated what a coup it is.

No, as on flightradar, MUC was always shown, hence why it would not come up with the MAN filter on, until it departed MUC when it was labelled MUC-MAN, rather than SIN-MUC-MAN. Now it will be labelled SIN-MAN and then when it leaves MAN, MAN-IAH.

Visited T1 Car park this morning, hoping there may be a water canon salute but no. I was sceptical considering the SIN-MAN sector was technically a resumption.

Visited the check in desks and to my surprise there was a lot of balloons, stars and stripes and the obligatory SQ girl on the inaugural flight boards. Loads, particularly for higher classes, looked good, although as you can tell by the pictures, it was only the late stragglers checking in at the time I got there.

There is also a codeshare with Virgin Atlantic, which is to be expected.

I will post the few pics I managed to quickly snap.

I'm not sure that MAN do water cannon salutes any more. Embarrassing incident with a Virgin Atlantic A333 some time back. Best avoided!

Good to see the strong coverage. Let's hope to see and hear good news about load factors, premium passengers and an intent to go daily when the A350 is introduced on the route next year.

Acid test of coverage will be google searches tomorrow to see if the news has been picked up across the airports whole catchment area. The MEN Is preaching to the converted. It needs extensive coverage in N Wales Staffordshire Yorkshire Cumbria.

I agree there has been more than enough advertising of the services.

We live in a day and age whereby anyone can access news from pretty much any portal, it doesn't need to be as precise as it once was.

In other musings, tomorrow will mark the first day of many where 2 SQ aircraft will be on the ground together at Manchester. Should look pretty awesome.

Those Google search links are of course welcome especially the link to the media in Aberdeen. All 100% excellent.

My point was really more about the more OBVIOUS local outlets that the masses are more likely to look at such as say
Daily Post
Liverpool Echo,
Stoke Sentinel and the Yorkshire Post.

Yes us avgeeks will of course come across "Insider media" and the like but I was thinking more of your average Joe.

Eg Chester Chronicle

They after all make up the bulk of the MAN audience !

None of those big beasts have covered the story. ....yet !

I do however accept there may be some how shall we say antagonism from spme efotors that Manchester is to a certain degree the epicentre of The North.

I've seen local articles from Chester, Macclesfield, Liverpool and I'm sure I saw one from Stoke. As you have just said, there are articles from Aberdeen and Houston, as well as 'national' articles. Apart from going door to door, I don't know what else you want SQ/MAN to do?

Like I say, when the Internet gives access to articles far and wide, precise pinpoints are no longer as important. I have seen no shortage of articles for the SQ news so genuinely not sure what the issue is?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
