But it was an observation that media coverage was needed, and it's been shown media coverage is plentiful.

9V-SWF and -SWR will meet on the ground tomorrow at Terminal 2 - both in the classic SQ livery. It will certainly be a sight.

9V-SWF may well prove a regular visitor as it has operated the last few SIN-DME-IAH flights as well as routinely operating SIN-SYD flights.

Any idea how the double transfer (SQ51 & SQ52) was handled today?

The aircraft seemed to get back out just about on time...

Been passed this picture, What a cracking line up, with full credit to Lee Holden (will remove if he is not happy to share). If you look carefully enough, mothers is also an Aeroflot A330 in the shot too.

anna.aero has named SQ's new flight as 'route of the week'.

There was a bit of a summarisation; the UK aviation minister said:

“It is a pleasure to be in Manchester to mark the inaugural flight between Singapore, Manchester and Houston. Every year nearly 100,000 people fly from the North West to Texas or Singapore – for holiday or for business. Now they can fly directly. Leading academic institutions such as the University of Manchester have also added their welcome and highlighted how this will help strengthen research partnerships in Texas whilst businesses across the North West will now have direct access to the economic engine that is Singapore.”

And VP Europe for SQ said:

“Our new non-stop routes to Houston and Singapore from Manchester are the first outside of London to offer travellers more convenient travel to Texas. We are committed to this region and want to continue to develop Singapore Airlines relationship with the people and businesses of the North West. With our partnership with Flybe, these routes are also open to travellers from 11 cities across the UK including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness”.

Ken O'Toole said:

“This new service to Houston with Singapore Airlines will open up a whole new part of America to business and leisure passengers across the North. At a time when capacity in the South is constrained, we are adding more passengers and routes than ever before. Houston and Singapore, along with a wealth of other recent new routes, can only be found at Manchester in the UK outside of London. This underpins the role we play in the North as the global entry point of the Northern Powerhouse and as economic provider and job creator for the region. Furthermore, at a time when there is a lot of uncertainty following the Brexit vote and ties with Europe, this new east and west route connecting America to Manchester and on to Asia, clearly highlights the role we play with connecting the North to international markets, unlocking trade, tourist and economic opportunities. We look forward to working closely with Singapore Airlines to ensure the success of the route and their continued growth from Manchester Airport.”

Do ANZ codeshare MAN-IAH?

I don't know how well the flights sync at IAH, but an AKL-MAN route should be quicker via IAH...

Perhaps when they go daily that would make more sense...

a) do you have the information that they are going daily, A350? First class has certainly been blocked from JAN which would suggest? Could you give me more information.

b) Secondly, here's your answer, again in the form of powerpoint for a random date in MAR:

It does seem currently, that this option isn't bookable on the ANZ website as they haven't secured a codeshare on MAN-SFO directly, but it looks promising they will, given that they codeshare on VS LHR-SFO. But, if you are booking by google flights...

For future reference, the codeshare flight numbers for SQ51 are:
Virgin Australia VA5651
Virgin Atlantic VS7351
Air New Zealand NZ3301

Cheers Ethan - nothing official, but enough complimentary information which points to the same conclusion.

Cheers for the info - with some slight tweaks the schedules could join up a little better but good to see these options developing - hopefully via LAX and YVR within the next year or two.

Yes - an AC/NZ option via NZ could be useful.

VS/NZ, SQ/NZ are all good options, in addition to QR/EY and CX.

Once VS decides to go to LAX, that could be another option. It is great to see the amount of options growing, apart from the usual ME3.

LAX opens up a lot of connections over the Pacific, I think moreso than SFO.

These are all great ideas for codeshares but in practice may not mean much - if they happen at all.

UA haven't yet taken a codeshare on MAN-IAH, never mind Air NZ etc.

And yes, Air NZ do already codeshare on SQ's service MAN-SIN (as do VS, and VA), but in practice they don't use it. In reality, if you buy a ticket from AKL to MAN on Air NZ, their cheapest option is via LHR. Their second cheapest is via HKG, with HKG-MAN on CX.

They even have semi decent fares that already permit AKL(NZ)IAH(SQ)MAN. No codeshare needed!

Sadly, airlines very rarely take the final step in these situations, to ensure travel agents and OTAs quote itineraries such as MAN-IAH-AKL. In this case NZ has not lodged the "via IAH" option and so anyone searching on Skyscanner etc will not be offered the option.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
