Good business decision by LBA. And we all know MME are throwing money at almost anything just now. Bet we have more flights today than NWI and MME - possibly even put together, so no point stressing over LBA closing on Xmas day and allowing the staff having their opportunity to celebrate
Having been in business all my life I can say we would have never refused to offer a customer s service if they requested it. Especially if doing so gave our competitors an opportunity to show how willing they were to please.

KLM and LBA have had a good working relationship that spans many decades. Each knows how the other works and I am sure KLM won't have given it a second thought if cancelling the flight was instigated by LBA. You also have to remember that LBA is also a business in this relationship and they also have to consider the cost and viability of opening for just a couple of movements.

Good points but ultimately if LBA isn't prepared to play ball when others are under the same circumstances it doesn't look good.

Glad I didn't work for you .
I am quite sure that LBA will have discussed yesterday with KLM as a common courtesy when making the decision. As I said, LBA normally don't open on Christmas Day. It's no big deal.

We had some tough customers that's for sure. Trouble was if you didn't perform it came back to haunt you the next time you needed cooperation from them.

Yes i am thinking the same - just observing FR24 last night about 9.30pm x2 EZY A320's 1 into Liverpool & 1 into Man followed by KLM 738 into to MAN then our E175 for LBA i am sure these must be capacity or as per normal the cheaper flights are with EZY
When I looked into going to AMS in December the return fare from Leeds was much higher than from MAN on flights with roughly the same timing. Unless things have changed using KLM for point to point is not really viable anymore.

KLM will use any p2p as valuable top up. Not a market they need to chase out of LBA with no competition. Sad as this next comment is, it also helps with the overall ongoing capacity issues at AMS. Let's see if LS return to the route at any point (or a n other carrier do) and see if things change

And I think those restrictions strengthen the argument that we probably need a link (with codeshare) to an alternative such as Paris, Frankfurt or wherever.
I think competition into Amsterdam is likely to be limited or restricted for some time

I just resent anything that forces me to fly from MAN especially when there's a direct service from LBA.

I noticed the overnighter has been an e175 too recently. Hopefully only a temporary thing bearing in mind we are in mid January. Even so, it annoys me a lot when I look on FR24 and find the late evening flights to MAN and NCL are both 737 800s.

Bizarrely, Norwich is back to 3 x daily so we have a current schedule comparable with Teesside, Humberside and Cardiff. Not great bearing in mind KLM is the only airline offering sensible / reliable connections from LBA.

A bit sad yes but what about passenger numbers! Are KLM turning away passengers as the E75 is full or are seats available when a E190
is scheduled. KLM will probably but not always match projected demand to equipment scheduled. In other words IF more local punters use the KLM service will bigger aircraft be used?

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
