I think that KLM have been appalling at cancelling the LBA flights these last few days. They should be able to operate at least one of the three flights planned.

no options on any other carriers either direct or via some other hub to the UK? i know AMS is screwed, but KLM is not the only airline that operates. they have a duty to get your friend home at the earliest opportunity - and that means not just looking at KLM. i very much doubt there will be a KLM option to LBA today btw.
In 2015 I had booked LBA - ABZ on Flybe (an extension of the Exeter service) and they cancelled the route. They offered me a flight from MAN but I said I wanted to fly from LBA. They booked me on an Eastern A/W flight which cost a lot more than I paid to Flybe.

You shouldn't have to insist that they get you home asap but I am afraid sometimes you have to.

with due respect, they are struggling to operate any short haul over the last 4 days. there are points when there have been fewer than a dozen short haul KLM flights in the air yesterday. LBA is not fairing worse than anywhere else - plenty of other outstations have had no or virtually no flights.

Looking like 'business as usual' tomorrow

A Melissa Street has just posted this on FB….Awful customer service from KLM.

why? Airlines can’t be held not be held responsible for weather disruption…..If every airline paid out compensation whenever a flight was significantly impacted ted/cancelled due to factors outside the control of the airline they’d be either no profitable airlines or ticket prices would be unaffordable…….

Still lots of E175s operating most flights. Whilst disappointing on paper if that means we maintain 3 a day then that remains a good thing. Makes you wonder how they would do if AN other "hub" carrier opened up at LBA though

I'm sure they would do just fine just as they do from other airports where a second, third or fourth hub operation operates.

My point being though why are we seeing mainly E175 ops when there isn't any competition. Is the route (and onwards connections) not doing well? A Lufthansa for example twice a day via FRA would surely eat into that connecting traffic. Equally they could be happy resting on current laurels

@Jerry I appreciate the situation CWL fins itself in re KL

On paper that looks fantastic. But without being too pessimistic my understanding was that this winter that only the extra lunchtime service was to be E175 operated with others being E190 or E295. And whilst I very much hope what is on paper turns out to be correct I shall remain sceptical until we see what turns up as they do have fleet flexibility and that has been proven through this winter

Only KLM knows what's going on it could be anything from operational restraints to demand and they may well need the bigger aircraft at other airports. Their network is pretty big tbf. Personally I would wonder if an extra frequency would be better than bigger aircraft but they may have challenges with slots at AMS.
As for another hub airline at LBA until LBA attracts one then its going to be an unknown as to whether it would push KLM off the route or spur them into adding more capacity.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
