Was on a stag do in Prague at the weekend and due to lack of flights from LBA had to use MAN. After a heavy weekend it was not a good feeling to land and know there was a 90min minibus journey still to go. Give me a short taxi hop from LBA any day.

Looking forward to flying Jet2 to Paphos in April from LBA with the family.

I'm doing my brothers stag do to PRG in May. We are flying easyjet from MAN out then jet2 back into LBA.

I'm glad it's not the other way around!!

We certainly won't but defo glad we are inbound to LBA. 10-15 mins home to Rodley and Farsley will do me fine after inevitable onslaught my liver will have no doubt taken!

A friend of mine flew up to ABZ with Eastern on Monday evening. He paid £49 one way, 1 piece of hold baggage included and comp bar on board. Fast track at LBA too but he said there were no queues anyway. 20 pax boarded the flight with him at LBA to join the 8 who were staying onboard from SOU.

Just booked my grandparents a trip to Portugal!

LBA - FAO with Monarch on 25th June - 1st July

I was happy when my Granddad specifically requested to fly from LBA! haha! Even though they could of got a slightly better deal from MAN, they wanted LBA and even opted to go with Monarch which was slightly more expensive however had better flight times than Ryanair.

hi ap1995
did you look at jet2 prices for the above trip,i just wondered if there was any difference.

Hi Snowman,

Yes I did look at the Jet2 prices, when I am booking flights, I use Sky Scanner and it gives me a quick idea on which airline has the best prices. When booking for my grandparents, the standard fare with Monarch without any extras was £140 however they needed to add on a suitcase each way.

Ryanair was around £130 but they were willing to pay extra for Monarch and Jet2 was around £170 without extras so it was a no brainer that they where going to select Monarch.

looking at the same 3 flights today, without any extras,

Ryanair: £132
Monarch: £145
Jet2: £199

Quite a difference!

When we booked our flights to ALC I found a similar situation, where Monarch and Ryanair are considerable less then Jet2, so obviously it is a no brainer we selected Monarch.

P.s I hope this all makes sense haha!

Just booked for Faro in April from LBA. For two passengers with 2 x luggage and 2 x reserved seating, Ryanair wanted £315, Monarch £405 and Jet2 £410, So yes Jet2 not as friendly as they used to be. Ryanair won the day with a £95 saving. Just hope it now all goes to plan.

Fair play to Jet2 if they are selling their seats though!

I'm sure on selected dates that Jet2 may be the same or even cheaper then Ryanair and Monarch however on most occasions that I have been looking (usually around school holiday times) for myself and others, its either been Ryanair or Monarch that are cheaper.

When we booked our ALC flights with Monarch, Ryanair was actually cheaper, however the mother said we are not flying Ryanair.

This year so far Monarch has gained an extra 9 pax with their new service to ALC and cheaper fares, I really hope LBA is working for them and they can return to profit ASAP.

Speaking of Monarch's new services, has anyone considered or booked a flight to Naples yet?!?!

You have to be careful if your taking hold luggage on board.
I booked flights for my son and family for this August from LBA this week end to malaga, 2 adults and two children over two with 4 hold bags. Whilst seats and seat allocation etc made Jet2 £48 more, Ryanair cases were £280 whereas Jet2 were £168, making an overall cheaper cost of £64.
I always find ryanair hold cost make them dearer to Jet2 and have done the comaprison for around 4/5 flights a year to malaga. always with hold luggage (we go for a montha time, my other half needs all the 64kgs for us two, I take an A4 envelope.

I suppose taking hold luggage into consideration it can make the cheapest airline by fare e.g. Ryanair, the most expensive, however it is down to the customers needs and wants, usually me and my family travel with hand luggage or 1/2 suitcase's between us, so when selecting flights, we usually just book the airline with the cheaper fares, or better times.

Just booked flights to Alicante for May Bank holiday, boy they where expensive!

To get the best deal we are flying out with Jet2 on the 23rd May and returning with Monarch on the 31st May, flights with selected seats but no baggage cost us £380 each!!

Baring in mind their is 7 of us going!! I'm just glad we are using LBA instead of trekking over the hill!

Booked to go to Malaga and back in September as part of a Jet2Holidays package deal. Thought it would be nice to take Mother on holiday. This will be my first package holiday in over 15 years as I am not a fan of them (I prefer to multi centre) but I have to say the prices were very reasonable and, unlike the traditional package providers, one can search for cheaper deals - the price is not fixed.

I couldn't help wondering though why flight only prices are so expensive. Jet2 definitely cannot be considered a low cost airline any more.

Arguably you could say the same about the other "low cost" airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet and Monarch. Looking back when airlines were "low cost", I recall numerous £1 deals on offer. Those kind of deals just don't exist anymore. Granted, flying is still comparably cheaper than before the low cost revolution.

I think the £1 deals were always a little bit all show and no trousers because, at the time, the headline fares did not have to include taxes and fees. I would argue, particularly with Ryanair, that fares nowadays are just as good value. When you consider that many places in Europe can be reached with Ryanair from £35 return (given the right booking conditions) and then factor in inflation, it could even be argued that they are better value now than they have ever been - particularly as they have been forced to comply with compensation payments (which they did not provide during the £1 days) and have vastly improved their customer service.

When it come to Jet2, I find it somewhat farcical that they still bang on about friendly low fares when it is cheaper to fly from LGW to AGP return with British Airways (including bags) than it is to fly LBA - AGP return with Jet2 without bags. When you consider that the BA product offers better on board facilities, including free food and drink and better seating, it just shows how far off track Jet2 have gone. As for the price vs demand argument, I'm sure London - Malaga is one of the busiest routes in Europe. Nothing stacks up.

That said, the package element is reasonably priced and, a few dodgy hotels aside, is better than that offered by Thomson and Thomas Cook.

CPT again Feb2016. Unfortunately from MAN this time. I was not deterred from using LBA again because of the weather disruption to my journey to CPT a few weeks ago. The decision is a no-brainer based on price. Turkish Airlines from MAN approx £240 per ticket less than KLM from LBA (£200 less than KLM from MAN) and approx £480 less than BA from either airport. Outbound journey longer than with KLM, but not return journey.
If only TK could be persuaded to come to LBA.

Just booked my brother and 3 mates on to Jet2's Zakynthos service on the 15th July

Has anybody else booked or thinking about booking anything anytime soon?!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
