Bridgetown:

I think MCO is only 5 weekly not daily according to another Aer Lingus press release and that is what is showing in the timetable at present

and a new slight downer, Pakistan is into the "red" zone for travel so I expect some kind of impact for VS/PK from 9th April onward

That is a big downer. It is the last country sustaining meaningful travel volumes through MAN at this point. Not just on VIR / HFY but the Middle East Big 3 as well. And AFAIK we don't even have an approved hotel for red list arrivals to use for quarantine in the NW. Compulsory use of LHR?

If, as rumoured, MAN prevaricated over quarantine hotels, they have only themselves to blame if they lose business.
That said, is there any data as to how many passengers are actually being quarantined in hotels at LHR & BHX on arrival?

I had heard a suggestion that hotels themselves were not keen to take part in the quarantine scheme. Measures required are onerous and rewards are slim. Plus the risk that quarantine hotels would be unavailable to open up to more lucrative regular business when that opportunity returns. Airport management can't dictate terms to hotel operators.

That's probably more accurate but I assume the hotels at LHR and BHX will have assessed the risk of losing regular business against the revenue and costs of housing quarantined customers. I suppose it also depends on the terms of the agreements with hotels and how quickly they could pull out of the arrangements should the situation change and they would prefer to return to a more normal business environment.

What input or influence MAN could have had, I'm not sure, but whatever potential business the airport could have retained for passengers from Pakistan whether direct or via other hubs will presumably be lost until Pakistan is removed from the red list or MAN is added as a designated point of entry.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
