If by "in the booking system" means it shows up when you type it into the to/from boxes, so does Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. I know they're expanding but I doubt it's that much! :LOL:

As long as it doesn't take away from BHX, then what's the harm? I know Jet Airways served Mumbai from MAN before Covid (and the airline collapsed) but has DEL ever been served from MAN?

Air India has served Manchester before but can`t remember if it was a joint flight and Virgin was close to
going to Bombay/Delhi but believe the Indian government stopped the flights before they started

I don't recall exactly when but I think it was an A310 via FCO to an unremembered destination.
Last flight was reported in ‘travelweekly’ at the time as the 30 April 2000. Air India said it could redeploy its aircraft more lucratively on Middle East routes. It was via Rome to Delhi and Bombay.

Delhi has been served directly by BA in the distant past enroute Hong Kong whilst Singapore previously stopped in Mumbai.

GOI instructed Air India to redeploy the 310s on migrant labour flights to the sandpit over multi stop European routes .

I assume that's based on the current slots requests. If I was looking at the right screens, the info seemed to stop about 4 July.
Saw Bangkok, but the board seem to jump from 12.00 to late afternoon on some dates so I didn't spot Amman.

Interestingly, Delhi and Mumbai appeared at one time but are they no longer there? If not, it might infer that slot requests have been cancelled.
Hope not as it was those flights I was particularly keen to see.

A few interesting inserts on the MAN website arrivals boards for various days in early July (I only scanned a few days). Nothing announced yet.
08:30 HO1607 Shanghai (PVG) Juneyao
07:15 TG918 Bangkok (BKK) Thai
10:35 OG850 Reykjavik (KEF) Play
13:15 RJ113 Amman (AMM) Royal Jordanian
That same resource also shows Easyjet Europe operating one of group Paris flights to/ from Orly each day

https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/air/manchester-airport-reveals-long-haul-expansion-ambitions

The key part of that article is this;

"The airport revealed that it is engaging with airlines to secure the resumption of services to other US destinations, including San Francisco and Boston after three transatlantic routes returned over the summer.

“The airport also has ambitions to introduce other new long-haul routes, including direct services to India, which had been planned prior to the pandemic,” a statement added."

Odd that the old United route not named but ex-Virgin routes. Would have thought they would be going for Los Angeles rather than San Francisco. Boston will be toss up between Aer Lingus, Dellta and Jetblue I imagine for a 2024 start and we all know about who is likely to be doing the Indian services. I really would have liked Virgin to have picked them up for a potential flow of passengers from India to the USA so that there would be a modicum of a chance that frequencies and operating months to the States would only be minimally affected in the lean winter months.

Las Vegas is one that is needed back. 2 operators now none. Los Angeles, Seattle Philadelphia (are American bringing this one back at all?)

Think Manchester need a game-changing pre-clearance offering to get back in the TATL market, otherwise the major US carriers will keep with their Dublin, Edinburgh and Heathrow strategy.

Heathrow and Edinburgh don’t have pre clearance otherwise I’m sure that would come in handy getting more US flights back.

With credit to SPD Travels for this good news: -

New route
Easyjet to Paris Orly. Flights operate 5 weekly Mon-Fri
EJU4899 ORY 1310 MAN 1335;
EJU4900 MAN 1415 ORY 1650
Operates with A320. Times do vary by 5-10 minutes on some days, but rather than confuse with times, this is a base plate. Will be bookable in next few days.

Interesting that it's with an away based a/c. if that applies every day. There tends to be less of those with easyjet than Ryanair

Ryanair are basing an additional aircraft this summer (from 16-17?).
Which routes will this additional aircraft fly?

I know Ryanair applied for slot to Toulouse from MAN last year, for this coming summer. But even now, there is no flights loaded into the Ryanair app/website, so I can only assume the slots were either rejected or Ryanair now have no plans to serve this route...

Delta's 4th Quarter earnings call on 13th December included this bit;

"Glen HauensteinPresident (of Delta)

Yeah. I think we talked a little bit about that in the previous question, we expect the transatlantic to be about 108% restored to 2019 levels, so it will be bigger than 2019. Most of that is engaged as we bring in the newer, more efficient fleets. So we have some exciting departures. We haven’t loaded our entire summer schedule yet. That will be announced over the next eight days to 10 days. There are a few more things we need to put back in.s next week"

Seeing that Boston was one of the routes MAN is targeting, maybe there's a very small chance of it being announced

On the big blue photo site much of the musings and associated soundings seems to suggest the next tranche of Delta releases are pivoting towards Pacific Rim routes - Hope I am wrong though

Apparently Air India has withdrawn its slot application for S23 as have Play.

Thai still hold their slots from July, however it is questionable as to whether they will operate.

I think that's enough bad news for today Scottie, but thanks for the information.

In the circumstances "route development" in this case is somewhat of a misnomer.:cry:

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
