Just noticed the below flight on the BHX arrivals board, anybody know what aircraft this will be ??

Oslo (fornebu)
SKYTAXIS
IGA 714
11:50
Expected 12:09

Skytaxi use two Saab 340A aircraft so most likely on of those.

B.A. CityFlyer Embraer ERJ-190SR G-LCYL operated a charter through BHX this morning, no idea who for.

Further to the above I've heard it's due to leave on Thursday if it's repaired in time.

For the reg collectors tonight's AIC113 787 is VT-ANH which hasn't visited yet.

I wonder if the fact the aircraft being stuck at BHX for 4 days due to no maintenance facilities for the MD11 will alter the perception from FedEx and whether the 'test' will be considered a success?

Im also intrigued as to why BHX required such an extensive 3 day testing period for a larger aircraft? When the MD11 was used for MAN-MEM, no such testing was needed, it just started scheduled flights, so I am curious to know which piece of infrastructure at BHX is so vastly different this test was needed?

I don't think it was a 'test' as such, more staff training for if/when the type is needed, apparently it is/was due in Dublin this weekend. Just a guess but MAN already sees regular cargo MD11's so staff there would already be proficient in handling this type?

Not really, FedEx were the first to use the type regularly, but that mantle has been taken by Lufthansa. Like I say they just turned up and got on with it, so was curious why BHX needed 3 days of training. With all the AN12's its not like BHX has never handled cargo before?

Don't know then. BHX used to see regular 747 cargo flights, often seeing several in one day, bringing in car parts from the U.S. and more recently AN12's and AN26's have been swarming around, again with car parts from Eastern Europe plus plenty of ad hoc larger cargo aircraft over the years. I guess FedEx must have had their reasons.

Anyhow the damage couldn't have been too bad as it departed around midnight last night.

There is another BA Cityflyer E190 due in Sunday morning. It should be arriving from Glasgow then operating an IT flight to Reus.

DANUBE WINGS ATR due into BHX this afternoon at 12.15pm from Bratislava, followed at 12.25pm by a BA Embraer from Reus. :whiteflag:

This afternoons Turkish is A321 TC-JMK, it's been a few weeks since we've seen an Airbus with the 738/9's being used.

Thursday morning sees a Europe Airpost 733 operating a charter to Berlin, it will arrive from CDG at 08:50 then depart at 09:40.

Friday sees an Air Mediterranee 735 operating a charter to Lourdes, it's due 14:00 and down to depart at 15:00.

Wednesday now sees Jettime 733's operating the usual SK2553/2554 to/from Stockholm on behalf of SAS.

All subject to change of course.

You have to admire the way Turkish can match loads with aircraft.

Low load- Stick an A320 or B737-700 on it.
an OK load- Stick a B737-800 on it
A slightly higher load- Stick an A321 or B737-900 on it
A very good load- Stick an A330/A340 on it
A super load- Stick a B777-300ER on it (LHR gets these a lot)

Certainly keeps the spotters on their toes!

It looks like we are in the OK & slightly higher region.

How far away are we from the 'very good loads'? I would assume MAN rarely sees A330s/40s as well.

Loads are doing well and growing at a steady pace but I think it will be a while before we see anything bigger than an A321. Double daily is the next step.

Atlantic Airlines, the airline of the Faroe Islands, will be basing an A319 from tomorrow until Friday to operate the Olympic Holidays IT schedule.

VC10 ZA147 is due to perform a fly past tomorrow around 13:35, hoping to catch a glimpse from work.

Well the car park on the Cargo Centre was busy on the top floor.

She came in faster than I expected but still a nice sight to see.

Sorry to see there was no sescort for her. Would have been nice to see a GR4 beat up BHX.

Managed to catch her going overhead from works car park just off Granby Avenue, sure was a nice sight to see (and hear).

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
