The visibility hasn't been great here for the last couple of days so with no ILS at the moment I guess they weren't happy, it arrived back just after 12:30. Everything else got in OK including a Flybe and a BMIR both diverted in from EMA.

There is a Hifly A340-300, CS-TQZ, due tonight at 22:40.

Interesting. Could it be to do with the Monarch hangar?

Currently over the North Sea with a Norwegian callsign.

Wouldn't they usually take it straight into the hangar or at least the Elmdon side if it was full? Is it definitely here to see MAEL or is it doing MOD charters to Germany?

I was under the impression that the Hifly A310 was doing the MOD flights but it seems this A340 has positioned in to do them. We'll find out tomorrow for sure as Hifly 5K261 is due out to Hannover at 12:30 then 5K262 is due back at 17:45. If so I guess it'll be doing the Sunday Paderborn flights 5K271 out at 12:35 and 5K272 back at 17:35.

So with the exit of Air Berlin, does this now mean BHX has NO oneworld presence whatsover now? Seems rather strange for a whole alliance not to have a presence, especially one that is growing and expanding.

Unless you count QF codeshares on EK, BHX is a complete black hole in the Oneworld network.

There hasn't been any Oneworld presence at BHX for a while now, it could be argued that Air Berlin were never really there as the flights are just charters for the British service personnel based in Germany and are not bookable for the public. Even though the top man himself specifically named BHX as a destination I get the feeling now Qatar have joined BHX may well have slipped well down the list, if it's even still on it.

Come to think of it, Birmingham has to be one of the biggest cities (the biggest?) in the developed world with utterly zero Oneworld presence. Quite a feat!

I'm surprised Hassan hasn't got excited that we'll have 2x 777's a 787 and an A343 in tonight 😉

You know me too well. 😉

I take it the A343 Hi-Fly will be parked up all day? Any reason why though?

So it's flying out - why is it coming back?

Air Berlin used to do 3x weekly charter flights to Germany for the armed forces staff based there 2x weekly HAJ (Wed & Sat) and 1x weekly PAD (Sun). Air Berlin stopped on March 30th and Hamburg Airways are now doing the Wednesday flight with an A320 and Hifly are doing the weekend flights with the A343 (I'd originally heard an A310 was to be used). CS-TQZ positioned in Friday night from Oslo, where it has been doing some long haul flights for Norweigan, to do these and I'd imagine it'll leave either late tonight or tomorrow morning.

The Hifly A343 remains parked up on stand 86C.

Carpatair F100 YR-FKA looks like it'll be around for the next couple of weeks, it's parked over on the Elmdon apron as a stand by aircraft for Flybe and has operated a few flights for them over the last few days.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
