The Alpha Star A320 was in for attention from MAEL and departed today.

I assume this is part of the crew training, I think they've used them on a few UK routes. It'll be a nice one for the photographers.

Presumably; the long term plan is to launch flights from Sofia to New York and Chicago but depending on how that goes I guess there is every chance they could use the A330 on flights to BHX/MAN/LGW for extra capacity during the peak holiday times.

The aircraft is LZ-AWA and is in basic BH Air colours.

Its visited MAN and LGW so far, so, is a rare bird to catch.

Thomson 763 G-OBYF positioned in this morning to operate to Orlando, I believe they are having some issues with the Dreamliners.

G-TUIE is causing Thomson a headache.

Diverted to Lajes 2 weeks ago with an issue in one engine, now stuck in Cancun with an issue on the other engine, which requires a change.

I think Thomson's must be starting to wonder whether it was the right decision to go for the Dreamliner, so far they've been a real headache for them. How many more do they have on order?

I wonder if airlines operating the B 787 with Rolls Royce engines have had any engine/gearbox problems. I believe that Thomson opted for GE engines.

I guess it's one of the downsides of being one of the first in line for a new model. On one hand you get to shout about it with lots of publicity but on the other you get all the teething problems, which can turn the publicity very negative. 'Dreamliner makes emergency landing' sounds alot more dramatic than 'A320 makes an emergency landing'.

Air India have all GE engines too and I believe they have also seen many issues.

Most landings that the press chooses to describe as 'emergency landings' are really precautionary landings but that doesn't suit the press's need for sensationalism.

BH Air should be using their A330-200 on BGH5537/5538 from Bourgas today, due in at 17:00 and out again an hour later. It should operate for the next four Saturdays until September 27th.

Hopefully the cloud will lift for the photographers.

Two military arrivals this morning, C17 ZZ174 arrived at 07:45 and RAF HS125 ZE396 landed at 08:24.

If anyone needs a picture FR24 is showing today's Tuifly 738 as D-ATUD which is in the Haribo livery. It's due just after 10am.

BA Cityflyer E170 G-LCYH is due at 08:50.

Change of aircraft, the Tuifly is actually D-ATUF which is in the Hapag Lloyd retro livery.

The based Estonian Air E170 ES-AEB is due out to Amsterdam tomorrow to head back to normal duties, I've not heard if it will be back next year.

It appears Estonian Air were just doing an aircraft swap as ES-AEC arrived today and is now BHX based.

If anyone is interested F-GFKY is en route currently over the channel, it's the Air France A320 in the Skyteam livery.

A321 OY-KBF is on SK2535, due around 18:30. Makes a nice change from the usual A319/A320.
