Birmingham: (BHX) - Expected Movements & Heads Up

BHAir A330 LZ-AWA arrived earlier from Sofia. It departed around 15 mins ago.

Interesting. I saw it on approach as I was in north Birmingham today. It had a really distinctive engine noise. Any idea what it was for?

Also I saw Czech use a 737 this evening. I believe it's leased from Go2Sky but it has been painted in the Czech livery.

Other planes I saw included the Air India 787, Ryanair 737s, two Norwegian 737s, two Thomson 757s, a Thomas Cook A321 and the Smartlynx A320, two Lufthansa A319s, Air France A319 (or A320?), Monarch A321, and Flybe E175s and Q400s (no purple planes though).

Hmmm....I thought it odd that the A330 would arrive from SOF and then depart to BOJ. Looking at FR24 I see that the number for today's flight from SOF was 8H5537 and the flight to BOJ was 8H5538. Last year those same flight numbers were also used, but on a BOJ-BHX-BOJ operation. Could they be doing a SOF-BHX-BOJ-BHX-SOF operation this year? There was definitely a rumour of them having flights to SOF this summer. Anyone know more?

Just noticed the SAS late evening flight, usually a CRJ, is being operated by an A321 (OY-KBE).

This is because SAS2535/6 was cancelled.
I don't know if anyone has heard but a lot of CRJ flights are being cancelled or other aircraft/Airlines being used due to problems with the CRJ fleet.

If it was the first flight of the season then there is a good chance that the SOF-BHX leg was empty, or maybe only a handful of seats sold. It would then have carried a full load back to BOJ.

Avignon (Flybe) and Perpignon (Ryanair) both restart today making 11 French destinations (there are 14 tomorrow).

Flybe are doing charters to Verona, Salzburg and Kefalonia.

Cityjet are operating a Saturday Innsbruck, on a W with BRS I believe?

As said before we have three Vueling today with the start of Alicante and an extra Barcelona, is this the first A319?

Evelop are back tomorrow on Palma along with Alba Star.

There are a couple of charters to Tarbes over the weekend.

Turkish are now a permanent 14 weekly.

Lots of extra flights from the regulars so it looks to be a very busy weekend.

According to the BHX website the first Evelop flight from Palma arrived today at 0833. CityJet is showing as due at 1836 and Alba Star at 1859. Strange how they forecast arrival time way before the flights have even departed.

Looks like an interesting week for movements coming up as we enter half-term and the full summer schedule.

The A319 now looks like the default aircraft for Brussels Airlines' mid-morning flight—OO-SSM being the latest to visit
Lufthansa are using A321 D-AISE on today's lunchtime flight (usually an A320)
Czech are using A319 OK-NEP (Prague livery)
Icelandair are using TF-FIA
Emirates A380 is A6-EOS and their morning 77W was A6-EGW (3-class aircraft?)
Flybe have upgraded Knock to an E195 today
Thomson have two rotations to Corfu today (one 757, one 738) and are using 757s to Porto Santo and Madeira which were both 738 routes last year
Air France are due to use an A321 tomorrow morning.
