Understood Coathanger yet I beg the question why would anyone, excepting family emergency or endemic bushfires, wish to leave a home in Australia and return to Covid ridden blighty? I do understand the Indian diaspora wanting to go home but I expect them all back again as the opportunity presents.

I just used Australia as an example - certainly if I was living out there I wouldn't have come back.

A similar number of expats live in the USA.

Okay, expats. Are they still UK citizens or have they renounced?. Is it the responsibility of the FCO to bring home those that have ceased to reside here, nondoms as media refer , or perhaps tourist types who have simply become stranded overseas. Clearly it is good to bring home those who are stranded but expats? I dislike being picky with members but when a legal puzzle presents itself I tend to investigate and try for answers. This the Aegean thread not the legal corner so my apologies for straying!

And Thanks due to Nethercote 2019.

I`m sure it is a football charter but remember a repat also can work otherway taking passengers back to Greece as did the Chines to Manchester about 2 /3weeks ago bought cargo in and took students home

Aegean is showing on google flights and wiki as operating BHX-ATH 2x weekly (Tue and Fri) using A320s starting on the 28th March 2023. Middle of the day departures too.
BRS-ATH also showing starting in March Mon & Fri.

Awesome news if confirmed, I think it was around 4 years ago when they last operated from BHX.

Anyone remember when they last flew?

Summer 2017 last time they operated from Birmingham:-

they were due to operate in 2020, but a certain virus put paid to that!

There is a very good reason to operate at night as they connect with ferry services for all
the islands which depart early morning and return late evening

Aegean returns to BHX with twice-weekly Athens flights from spring 2023

Aegean Airlines, the Greek carrier, is returning to Birmingham Airport (BHX) after a five-year break.

From March 28, 2023, Aegean will fly twice weekly between Birmingham and Athens (ATH).

Tom Screen, aviation director for BHX said: “We are thrilled to welcome back Aegean. I’m sure these Athens services will be well subscribed.”

One of its A320 aircraft will arrive into BHX at 0945 and depart to ATH at 1035 every Tuesday and Friday.

Aegean will be the seventh Star Alliance carrier at BHX.

Published before the flight has taken off and seemingly they know what was said after take off ;)

Aegean Airlines returned to Birmingham Airport (BHX) today with twice-weekly Athens flights.

Services on its A320 aircraft to and from the Greek capital will run on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Tom Screen, aviation director for BHX, said after watching today’s 1035 Athens departure take off: “We are very pleased to welcome back Aegean after a five-year absence.

“Whether customers want to enjoy historic Athens or travel onwards to the popular Greek islands, we are in no doubt that these Aegean services will be well subscribed.

“For customers travelling from Greece, Birmingham, at the heart of the growing West Midlands region, has strong appeal for those travelling on business or leisure.”

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
