Here's a new thread to discuss various advertising you see around the airport, Leeds, Bradford or else where in the city region to support our local air services.

I thought I'd start this new thread after seeing the airport bill boards change last week. The airport is now advertising it's London Heathrow service on at least two of the bill boards and also Copenhagen which is in a prominent position. Already mentioned elsewhere in the forum there's various free-standing advertisements pushing the Copenhagen route. It's great to see the airport pulling out all the stops at last with the advertising. It's something I've always thought they've lacked up until the last year or so.

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

Leeds train station has a BA advert over the ticket barriers the usual LBA to LHR T5 and 70 destinations

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

BA regularly has ads for the LBA-LHR service in the business section of the Yorkshire Post. If only the timetable was more conducive to business needs, ie early morning southbound.

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

Real Radio (soon to be Heart) advertising Australia with Singapore Airlines from Manchester but also Monarch sale to places from LBA

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

BA have been advertising on the front page on the YEP. It looks like it's possibly the airport that's paid for it because it has the airport logo on the advert as well.

Re: Airline & Route Advertising

There are loads of First Buses in Leeds with the BA advertisement for the LBA - LHR route adorning one side of the bus. It is probably the first time ever I recall seeing any airline advertising with such large ads on our buses. Jet2 have their red ads (although less frequently now) but they were only ever the smaller ads on the lower panels of the bus. The BA ones take up the full length of the bus.

I notice LBA is advertising Dubai on it's billboards at the airport. The discerning wannabe passenger might take a second look thinking it's direct from Leeds Bradford airport, if only!

If only indeed, but at least it might make people consider the fact they can fly to Dubai from LBA via Amsterdam. They are booked LBA to Dubai and their luggage won't be seen between LBA or Dubai (assuming it actually gets to Dubai in the first place). Given the huge increase in passengers using Emirates from MAN, LBA needs to do something. We have long criticised LBA for not marketing themselves strongly enough. That does at least seem to be changing for the better, both in the outside world and on the LBA website.

And lets not forget that Dubai is also available via Heathrow with BA. Currently more expensive to fly this way than with KLM but some may prefer going this way than via Schiphol. Used it myself last year straight into Terminal 5 at Heathrow from Leeds and Dubai departure from same terminal. Baggage checked throughout from Leeds so no messing around in London rechecking baggage in again.

Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) is sponsoring the weather forecast on Yorkshire's Heart Radio. :good:

Re: Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

It was good to see lots of advertising for Aurigny's new route to Guernsey, Vueling's new route to Barcelona and Monarch within both the Arrivals Hall and Departure lounge at Leeds-Bradford Airport over the past 2 Saturday's whilst passing through Terminal on my travels.

Also I seem to be getting plenty of Email blasts sent through from Monarch, Vueling and Leeds-Bradford Airport (which includes most airline operators).

Eastern Airways, British Airways and Vueling all seem to do alot of adverting routes from Leeds-Bradford on the daily email updates I receive from the Business Desk Website as well.

Re: Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

I wish the airport would remove that hoarding suggesting there are flights from Leeds to Dubai. Various people have asked me which airlune is flying the route! Its extremely misleading.

I agree with you "LBAYORKIE" the advertisement in question dose look a little miss leading, (Looks like Leeds/Bradford has a direct service to Dubai) But I think the message the airport is trying to get across is the fact that both British Airways and KLM do offer 1 stop connecting services via London Heathrow or Amsterdam to Dubai without having changing airlines or having to travel over the M62 to Manchester.

Re: Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

Not sure is misleading. As long as I get rid of my hold cases and never see them again until I arrive or in the case of B A never again, I am happy and feel any route that allows this is acceptable advertising.
Accept I know LBA well and know its not going to be a direct route, in my dreams maybe.

Re: Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

The wrong thread I know, but Dubai is well within reach of LBA. It's only around 6 hours flying time from Leeds and it's a route LBA should be able to get at some point in the future. For sure, it would be advertised on the large advertisement boards if and when it eventually happens.

Lets face it, the likes of Emirates is a major competitor to KLM and BA, so it's inevitable that we will see BA and KLM advertising flight from LBA to Dubai albeit via Amsterdam or Heathrow. It would be nicer to see direct flights advertised on the boards but advertisements are advertisements and they will bring additional revenue for the airport so we can't knock it when you look at it like that.

As Emiratss have a big presence in the UK opersting from a number of airports, a better option may be to try and tempt Etihad on the Abu Dhabi route. They have the right equipment for LBA with their Airbus A330 aircraft and for anyone wantng to go to Dubai offer a free coach transfer from Abu Dhabi airport. For the motor racing fraternity the Yas Marina Grand Prix circuit is next door to the airport.

Re: Airport, Airline & Route Advertising

I couldn't agree more dmrodgers!

Just had Radio Aire on in the car and the airport had an advertisement saying "you can fly to Ibiza with Thomsons from Leeds Bradford Airport".

I am sure this will please "Tarn Spotter" who complained there was no advertising for the traditional holiday package companies.

You missed my point, my complaint about an airport management holiday video giving little prominace to two of the u.k. major package holiday companies, i was not making a point about these or any other companies advertising campaigns.
Just seemed strange you put on social media a airport commercial aimed at the holiday market and yet ignore the principal players in the market, especially as they should be more active from LBA, its not the way to encourage them to participate more.
I accept the video featured the leading supporters of the airport.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
