Unless this is old information left hanging over from Stobart Air, the timetable section of the Aer Lingus website has a schedule for a 2 x daily LBA-BHD operation from 27 March 2022. Basically about 0650 and 1500 departures ex BHD but with occasional variations by day.

Leeds - Belfast link could become interesting to watch, especially now as its rumoured Belfast City will become Flybe's 2nd UK base. Also of course if Easyjet continues to operate its Belfast Int'l service too.

If we do end up with 3 operators on LBA - Belfast I can see U2 being the ones to blink first as it’s probably not, and never going to be, mass market enough for them to fight and lose even more money than they have through COVID, unless of course they do want to drive one or even two operators away. Something a price war wouldn’t do due to BHD’s locality appeal. That said I am happy to be proved wrong and have 3 operators successfully operating a couple of times daily each. Should be enough market share for that and should help LBA be very competitive if it were to happen. As LBAspotter says could be an interesting watch!

BACF won't operate the route for much longer once Emerald start. The intention was to just cover it when Stobart went bust, and whilst BACF planes and crew are under-utilised on the normal LCY routes.

The question is just whether U2 will continue alongside Emerald.

2 x ATR operations per day to BHD surely can't have too big an impact on U2s ops to BFS. I for one hope to be booking LBA BFS with U2 in April

BA CityFlyer weren't even thought off in my post as knew they are looking after the route for IAG until Aer Lingus regional (Emerald UK) start up ops.

Flybe with a few Dash 8's daily to City should be ok against 2x daily Aer Lingus ATR72's as we know the is demand for the route. But it will all depend on if easyJet stick around and increases its own A319/A320 jet ops to Belfast Int'l.

The easyJet service caters for the whole of Northern Ireland and some parts of the Republic, so is not entirely dependent in the Belfast traffic. We can be sure LBA will want to keep them longer term. It will be interesting to know what their loads are like. For many, easyJet will be their preferred airline for flying to NI, if only because they operate nice new jets rather than aircraft that are perceived by some to be old because they happen to have props on each engine!

I think the point everyone is making here is whether BE mark 2 jump on BHD with it looking like a BHD base for them, so the 3 operators referred to are EI, U2 and BE. BACF were never in the equation once EI took over that

well it’s a sure fire way for flybe2 to fail if they jump on routes with other carriers already established. I really can’t understand what on earth they are doing, but it may seem the management is as dimwitted as it was with flybe.

There are a lot of similar thoughts doing the rounds Karfa. Not only do they seem to be Flybe Mark 2, they seem to potentially be same mistakes mark 2. I would be happy to be proved wrong though for all those that will be employed and more for the fact the airline industry needs a huge lift. As it appears they have a BHD base coming then BHD - LPL should be a good start as unserved. 3 airlines on Belfast from LBA would be great for choice and fares but really think EI and U2 need to establish properly first as travel returns. May get 3 a day from EI then and perhaps 2 from U2. Heres hoping at least!

I think we can definitely sustain 2 operators, flybe was x5 daily at one point. it clearly is a big market. U2 have a huge presence at BFS, serving most of the UK, cant see why LBA would get the chop. Hopefully they are doing well and will continue to do so. alongside Emerald, which does bring an attractive day return form BHD now

Easyjet have jet aircraft with Cat3B capability for foggy winter days which make it my choice of operator for sure.
Turboprop Cat 2 ATRs are less attractive for me.
We have family in Portrush and BFS is closer than BHD, so I do hope Easyjet continues, and the CAT3b capability was great when we flew out on Boxing Day evening. Aircraft earlier in the afternoon were diverting and when Easyjet came in it was 150m-200m visibility

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
