I'm hearing Palma is to follow too.

BHX will get BCN/ALC/PMI and MAN gets BCN/ALC/SVQ/PMI/IBZ.

So it appears to have been a change in strategy fro Vuelling? Before they were looking to set up a base at MAN, are they now looking looking to spread a little wider? I think they said the hub at MAN was delayed due to a/c shortage, so whilst it seems MAN will still be their largest UK airport, they seem to be giving BHX a chance also, along with their recent announcements at launching NCL, LJL,LBA. spreading the brand across the UK maybe???

great news eitherway....

Apparently the MAN base will happen, they just want to build brand awareness first with these new routes.

The new LPL and LBA routes also spread awareness into the northern market in preparation for the base. They are also battling with Ryanair after they pulled their usual truck of capacity dumping on the routes Vueling is due to start ex-MAN, so the new LPL/LBA routes also make Ryanair back off to fight Vueling at those 2 airports while Vueling sneak the routes into MAN catching RYR on the back foot.

LGW is currently their biggest UK point with 3 routes that include a 4 daily Barcelona. Manchester is second with 2 routes but 10 weekly flights. Cardiff/BHX/LHR joint 3rd with 8 weekly flights and 4/2/2 routes respectively. EDI is 4th with 4 weekly flights, then BFS/LPL/LBA/NCL with 3 weekly each.

That will change once the MAN base opens of course, but it's safe to say, Vueling has arrived in the UK!

Alicante now showing non-stop on the Route Map from BHX but I cant find any bookable dates yet.

Excellent news indeed.

It's exactly what BHX needs, away based flights to popular destinations :good:

User001, Will BHC not have more flights???

BCN is down as 4x weekly in June, lead to believe ALC will be 3x weekly, so assume (if it happens) PMI will be at least 2x weekly = 9x weekly in June.... BCN then goes 5x weekly in Aug taking that up to at least 10x weekly flights...

re airports, I was referring to UK regional airports, my mistake... I often don't bother including LON airports in my thought process!!!

Regardless of the number any hypotheticals, great to see a new airline at BHX expanding and have a good time at the airport.

Just a query,

But, have I done something to really upset you ray?

I've just noticed that I've posted detail on a few routes news, and while you are quick to thank or respond to others, you quite blatantly ignore my posts?

For example, Ash posted that Alicante was appearing on the route map, so you thank and respond. I post the start date and frequency, but nothing, not even a thanks? It's happened a few times now.

Not that I want, or crave the thanks, but, it just seems a little odd that you take the time to thank almost anyone but my posts? I don't know whether it's intentional but, I'm just concerned I've done something to really offend you?

Woody,

In terms of bases sizes, I was referring to what's bookable at this time.

BHX sees up to 5 weekly BCN and 3 weekly ALC, making 8 weekly.

Potentially, PMI will be 3 weekly making 11 weekly, so, BHX will move into 3rd place alone with that.

However, as things stand, BHX is tied with CWL with both having 8 weekly at this time (CWL is 2 weekly each on BCN/ALC/AGP/PMI.) LHR is 4 weekly each on La Corunia and Vigo.

MAN sees up to daily BCN and 3 weekly ALC making 10 weekly.

Potentially, PMI and SVQ will be 3 weekly each, and IBZ 2 weekly making 18 weekly next summer, but, BCN is also rumoured to be going 10 weekly from June, so, potentially 21 weekly.

thanks for the clarification.... if all true then i'm happy with BHX being in 3rd place, but if today has proved anything, its that nothing is fixed/certain in aviation!

No nothing that I'm aware of. Most of your posts are MAN based and to be honest it doesn't really interest me so I tend not to respond, there are others that are interested though.

On this occasion I thanked Ash as he made the first post, effectively 'breaking the news'. I didn't thank you for the start date and frequencies as I already knew them, looking back however there are people that wouldn't have known them and would have found the information useful so it was rude of me to ignore that. There were also quite a few posts in quick succession along with me also checking Ryanair and Wizz websites whilst having a two year old screaming because his egg won't boil any quicker :shout:

Sorry I missed you out but thanks for the news about Palma :good:

The ALC timings.

Mon VY1394 ALC 06:05 BHX 07:50 VY1395 BHX 08:30 ALC 12:05
Wed VY1394 ALC 12:25 BHX 14:10 VY1395 BHX 14:50 ALC 18:95
Fri VY1394 ALC 06:05 BHX 07:50 VY1395 BHX 08:30 ALC 12:05

Cheers Ray

I know my post had come across as 'why isn't he thanking me, I want thanks', but, like I say, it's happened quite a few times so just making sure all was ok.

In terms of Palma, I'm hearing 3 weekly on Tue, Thu and Sat from about 12th June but, things may change before then. Vueling announce increases by base seperately so may be a while before its announced.

I'd also heard a whisper of Florence for S16 but as User001 works for Vuelings parent company I'll assume it was simply hearsay. After Flybe did so well it would be nice to see it back, maybe for S17.

Good to see Vueling expanding - just hope this isn't a political move to put Norwegian off as you'd assume Alicante would be a prime candidate if a base is to happen.

Would love to see them launch Florence - sadly BHX is the only major UK airport that doesn't have a service to Pisa so a link to beautiful Tuscany really would be most welcome.

So, rumours on Pprune suggest that Vuelling are launching MAN-FCO and EDI-FCO in June 2016....

This is a route I had hoped BHX would get as its one of VY's largest bases other than BCN.

User001, FCO isn't on the original list of BCN/ALC/SVQ/PMI/IBZ which you had heard were on the card for MAN, are there anymore to come, especially into BHX...?

FCO is bookable for MAN and EDI so not a rumour and I've posted the MAN route details in the MAN thread already. It was always on the cards for MAN but the FCO Fire meant a question mark was put on it. They have obviously decided to go for it.

It won't be a BHX route though.

Still expect PMI-BHX but that won't be announced for a while.

Barcelona is 5x weekly until mid September when it goes to 4x weekly. It remains 4x weekly throughout October which is up on this Octobers 3x weekly.

Alicante remains 3x weekly until the end of October.

Barcelona is now 5x weekly as of May.

August and the first two weeks of September are now showing 6x weekly, no Tuesday flight. It's then back to 5x weekly until the end of October, which is as far as it goes at the moment.

be interesting to see if palma will come online in 2016 as rumoured but its looking unlikely at this late stage...

A present, BHX has Alicante (upto 3x weekly) and Barcelona (upto 6x weekly)

Edinburgh currently has - Alicante, Barcelona, Paris, Rome
Manchester currently has - Alicante, Barcelona, Rome
Cardiff currently has - Alicante, Barcelona, Majorca, Malaga, Paris,

Palma and other routes could still be added. Don't forget Norweigan didn't announce BHX flights until the first week in December 2014 for Summer 2015. So I suppose Vueling could also add routes in December.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
