Norwegian Air Shuttle

That is indeed welcome news User001. Are you sufficiently in 'the know' to be able to confirm whether it will be Boston, New York and San Francisco for BHX or will it be different destinations?

I've heard several versions of stories, which unfortunately means it's difficult to even begin to speculate what could be announced.

The safe bets are Boston and JFK.

I've heard west coast, Florida and Las Vegas mentioned too, but, I suppose those will depend on B787 availability.

Las Palmas is now on sale for winter.

Only the Thursday flight is showing at the moment but given that they add a Sunday flight for October I think it would be odd if it didn't carry on through.

I think we have all jumped the gun on the EDI news as far as I am aware, it is just news about the "possibility" of norweigan starting services next year to the USA. We knew this already, it was always supposed to be BHX/MAN/EDI. This hasn't been confirmed as far as I am aware ex EDI ???

If anybody else can confirm though ??

Great to see LPA on sale for winter, a route I will be using in September 2016 🙂

You are correct that this news today is just Bjorn Klos saying 'we will open EDI-USA'.

In much the same way that Michael O'Leary heads around airports saying 'we will open here to there', so, this is no different.

Like I say, the time for BHX and MAN publicity will come, it's just happening one at a time, I assume to drum up support ready for the launches.

Long-Range Airbus A321s (A321LR) for Norwegian

Now wouldn't that be nice to see at BHX? (!) Interesting range for the A321LR giving a number of possibilities for routes from good 'ol BHX - or should I say revitalizing BHX?

Let's hope that the wings will still be being built in the UK then.

A more comprehensive description courtesy of Airbus including some Norwegian comment.

Wonder if that means they will target long-haul routes from the smaller regional airports?

The Madrid numbers are a amazing. To think that in 2009 and 2012 I went to central Spain with some friends and had to fly from Luton!! Why was there no service then? A number of operators are managing to attract healthy loads. Can only think the BHX marketing team didn't quite have the clout back then to pull in the appropriate airlines.

I must admit, when I heard how many airlines were serving Madrid I thought, here we go, bravado of a new airline one year, passengers don't use the route, and then next year it's gone.
But look at the figures -wow!
Well done Norwegian and Iberia for having the foresight their competitors lack. I'd be interested to know how many of those Madrid-bound passengers are catching onward flights to South America. Should give the long haul carriers something to think about.

There's clearly money to be made at BHX!

But still no Madrid/Barcelona for W16/17, they are leaving it quite late if they are to link BHX with Madrid this coming winter.

For that reason alone I'd have thought it'd be a race to see who can announce the flights first and get the early bookers!

Just Iberia and Ryanair (so far) this winter.

Monarch carried Lisbon through into winter but Madrid stops October, it does return next summer though 🙂

Their Barcelona-UK winter schedule (apart from LGW) is not yet released. I believe the BCN-MAN route was announced only three weeks beforehand so I wouldn't worry too much.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
