I think you've summed everything up pretty well although my wish list would be more about keeping what we've already achieved which is always half the battle at BHX.

Personally I don't think VLM will be around too long and obviously something will have to give on Madrid - hopefully NAX and IBX will be the ones to stick it out (My money is on MON pulling out first).

I'd like to see AA have time to strengthen before having another US carrier thrown into the mix (DL to ATL would be nice though).

TK going double daily would also be good.

I also hope we don't lose Aegean after next summer.

After Scandinavia I'd argue that Vienna is the next obvious missing link and I'm still amazed BHX is the only major UK airport without a flight to Pisa.

Vienna is a good shout, it never even crossed my mind.

I don't think it would be a bad thing to get someone else to Rome maybe 3 or 4 times per week.

keeping what we've already achieved which is always half the battle at BHX.

It's definitely been an issue in the past but positive signs are there with Norwegian and Vueling both growing after their first season. It will be a big test though.

My wish list for 2016/17.

Europe.
Geneva to become year round,EZY or EZS.(3/4 weekly should be about right in summer).
Scandinavia.OSL,ARN are the obvious ones, but, could Norwegian try to create a niche market.
Trondheim,Stavanger,Malmo for instance?
Helsinki is a must.
Vienna another good shout,(3/4 weekly)to see how it goes.
Wizz to increase frequencies on WAW and BUD initially then more destinations added.Riga and maybe even Kiev as well as those already mentioned.
Plus Seville,Bilbao and La Coruna perhaps.

USA/Canada.
ORD or PHL by AAL,
Alternatively ORD by UAL.Then see what happens.
Florida is obviously in need of more.Fort Lauderdale or Miami as well as those already stated.
More flights to YYZ and new to Montreal,Calgary and possibly YVR.

Rest of the world.
BOM,BKK,SIN,HKG,although those last 3 maybe doubtful.
More frequency and another city in Pakistan.
More frequency maybe regular schedule to Morocco.
Cairo if things quieten down out there.
Abu Dhabi as an outside bet by the end of the year.

Happy new year everyone :drinks:

Hi there ray and all, well 2015 is almost ending and 2016 nearly here, so lets hope with all these new airlines that will start in March 2016 onwards, including Emirates A380, I think now is the time for Birmingham to start persuading a lot more of these budget airlines from round the world to come and start flying from Birmingham, to fill all those gaps of unserved areas that Birmingham desparately needs to fill and to start getting that 40% that only use Birmingham up to 50 and 60% plus mark, so that Birmingham is more attractive for local and further afield, so that the locals from the west midlands don't have to travel further than there local airport...that's Birmingham's next goal and aim....andyc

Three days in to 2016 and Turkish going twice daily can already be crossed off my list!

Any more word on a a Finnair annoucement?

That was crossed off within a few hours of 2016 but didn't stir much a reaction!!!

I think we now just need to start playing the waiting game. lets see how productive 2016 will seem in comparison to 2015

It's supposedly a done deal (I say that with some hesitation as I take nothing for granted until it's official), when we'll hear something I do not know.

So, before we all go back to work, I thought it would be interesting to look at the dates for the diary ...

Warning to all our key photo contributors, you might want to take the end of March off work....

A fun year ahead with hopefully more to come.... :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

Thomson to DWC is a new route for December

That last week in March looks a great one, I just hope the weather is good enough for the photographers. I also hope Iberia aren't too overshadowed by the A380, given the competition it's the one new route that probably needs the most publicity.

Hi there ray and all, happy new year to all, I think we need to hopefully get Finnair for Helsinki and norweign airshuttle to Oslo...these routes are not served by Birmingham, which could be huge if available to Birmingham.... Andyc

That's a great list, unfortunately all the Thomson flights except PUJ and DWC are very doubtful. I remember Agadir and Djerba being announced for summer 2015—but they never started.

If 2015 is set to be a year of records, could Birmingham Airport reach another milestone on March 15, with a massive increase in the number of seats and flights available for the Cheltenham Festival.

Ryanair have 10 flights from Dublin to BHX and Aer Lingus have five listed - a total of 30 flights to and from one destination in just one day. Surely that must be a record?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
