FR24 shows WOW A321, TF-JOY, operating KEF-BRS-KEF today. Mayfly shows an A320 so it's not clear whether the upgrade today was for operational reasons or because of bookings. I haven't been keeping a regular check of aircraft types on the WOW KEF route from BRS but it is recorded elsewhere that 321s have been seen on the route before in recent weeks.

FR24's recent history for TF-JOY shows it operating to New York from KEF on a number of occasions in the past week. Today it actually went on to New York after it landed at KEF from BRS.

WOW have 4 A321 on order and 1 A321neo and only 1 A320neo on order so there fleet will end up primarily A321's so it could be BRS sees an A321 more often than not now.

I've been following WOW on flight radar and there seems no set allocation of flights. BRS did regularly see A320's but seems more regular A321's. This may be down to demand and wow ops plan the aircraft allocations based on numbers booked.

I have been watching the Wow flights on fr24 as well and its mostly been an A321 lately indeed i cant remember the last time i saw an A320 on the route

Of the last 20 wow rotations into Bristol 18 have been with an A321 .
The A.320 s seem to be mostly used on the Stockholm and Copenhagen routes .
Having said that Gatwick had an A330 last week !

It's not too surprising we see plenty of A321s as their fleet currently consists of:

2x A320-200 - (leased from Avion Express registered TF-BRO, TF-SIS)
7x A321-200
2x A321-200 - (registered TF-KID, F-SON)
5x A321-200(SL) - (registered TF-DAD, TF-GPA, TF-GMA, TF-JOY, TF-MOM)
3x A330-300(E) - (registered TF-GAY, TF-LUV, TF-WOW)

The A330s primarily fly to LAX, SFO, LGW, CDG
The A320s primarily fly to FRA, LGW, ARN, BCN, and some CPH

I was at the airport last Friday and yes it was a A321. I counted best I could and noted that the flight was nearly full. So it does look like good load factors on the route. It wonders how many are connecting pax and how many are point to point.

Despite the three month hiatus from the route, it is great to hear WOW are continuing in Bristol - it's a unique asset to have in terms of transatlantic connections and a growing network on both sides of the pond. The article in which WOW flights are secured also says 'new aircraft' - google flights still shows as A320, so hopefully WOW will be receiving new 320 aircraft, rather than TF-BRO/SIS that have a newer product e.g. Wi-Fi, USB ports (although that may be wishful thinking with a lo-co ;)) and a better overall experience for BRS travellers.

Sorry if a bit late to the discussion but, nevertheless, great news.

I think lately it's been mostly A321s and most of their fleet will consist of them.

Yes, I have gathered that from some of the posts on here. For a random date in August that I checked, A320 was showing although the intention from WOW is to clearly go 321 and if that means they are operating bigger, newer aircraft into Bristol, then it is great ;)

Get swept away by the ‘Windy City’ with WOW air!

Created: 27th Mar 2017

Chicago announced as the airline’s 10th North American destination.

WOW air, Iceland’s only low cost airline, has today announced a new service from the UK to Chicago beginning in July 2017, with fares from just £139*.

Flights will depart from Bristol to Chicago via Reykjavik, bringing the city’s diverse cultural offering, dramatic skyscapes, acclaimed gastronomy and lively sporting scene to UK travellers on a budget. The inaugural service to Chicago O’Hare (ORD) will depart on 13 July 2017, with the service operating four times per week.

Tickets for the new route are on sale NOW via www.wowair.co.uk.

WOW air’s expansion to Chicago builds upon the successful launch of transatlantic services to Pittsburgh, New York, Washington D.C, Boston, Montreal, Toronto and Californian destinations Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami.

Skúli Mogensen, Founder and CEO of WOW air said, “I’m thrilled to add Chicago as our 10th North American destination, offering ultra-low fares to UK travellers who may not have previously considered travel to this exciting city viable. This is our fourth new long haul route announcement in just a few months, bringing our network now up to a total of 32 destinations”

“As the third largest metropolitan area in the US with a record number of visitors last year, there’s never been a better time to visit Chicago and we’re excited to see the response to our new route.”

The flights from Reykjavik to Chicago will be serviced by WOW air‘s fleet of Airbus A321 aircraft, acclaimed for their wider cabin, low operating costs and excellent fuel efficiency. The total flight time from KEF-OHR will be 6 hours 40 minutes, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

For further information on flights to Iceland and the US please visit www.wowair.co.uk.

* Based on lowest one way fare on the WOW Basic package, including taxes and charges, booked via www.wowair.co.uk. Restrictions and booking/baggage fees may apply.

Have to wonder if they are making a dent in Aer Lingus's transatlantic services across the board? If they did add a Portland flight then i'd might consider given them a go!

I looked at the WOW website a day or two ago to see if next winter had gone live. Gatwick had but not BRS or EDI or ORK. I didn't look beyond those.

I also wonder if they get more A330s if they'll start looking at Mexico and the Caribbean as well. Could be a future option for them.

That's not the market they are in. Their market at the moment is American tourists into Iceland and also Americans and European wanting cheap air travel between the 2 continents. I can't see many Mexicans or Caribbean residents wanting to visit Iceland or people wanting a beach holiday wanting to go from Europe to Mexico and Caribbean via Iceland. There are a number of cities in North America that will be higher on the list before moving South.

Promotion

I had an email today from BRS saying they and WOW are offering a discount of 20% on transatlantic flights to be taken between June and October this year, with bookings having to be made by 17 April, ie within the next four days.

I'm always a bit concerned when airlines begin offering fare reduction promotions as it could indicate slow bookings. On the other hand it might be a way of getting people back into the swing of using WOW that is taking a break at BRS until June.

Looking to next winter there is no booking availability yet from BRS but there is from LGW and DUB. However, EDI and ORK are still not bookable for next winter either. I didn't look beyond the UK and ROI.

EDI is now bookable for next winter but still nothing for BRS or ORK.

Here we go again, will they operate it or not, It does not give pax confidence to use the route if wow keep on doing what they do.Regular pax that use this route will look else where for their flights.

It's certainly very unsatisfactory. BRS and ORK still not bookable for next winter.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
