I don't know of any other "Western European" airlines that operate them apart from Cityjet.

Russian /Soviet passenger aircraft have never successfully penertrated the western market although they have created a niche for freight traffic over the years.

I think City Jet were offered a deal that seemed too good to be true and maybe it was.

The SSJ's are going back to Cityjet, I believe they will be parked up, the issue is getting spare parts and maintenance for the aircraft, European airports arn't able to fix any minor or major problems with the aircraft, and all spare part have to come from Venice!

The Brussels flights are now going to be operated by Air Nostrum CRJ1000 aircraft!

The 17x weekly BHX-BRU flights will be operated by an Air Nostrum CRJ-1000 (100 seats) from the beginning of January 2019 until the end of March.
From the beginning of April, the 17x weekly BHX-BRU flights will be operated by a CityJet RJ85 (95 seats).
(The SSJ had 98 seats).

I see now, they are being withdrawn from service via lease termination thus it is a problem for the owners and not for Brussels Airlines. If so, then that is a good move until one considers the potential consequences for existing UK-EU services. Are Brussels going to redeploy existing aircraft or closing services such as BHX-BRU?

The first casualty of 2019 perhaps?

brussels airlines at the launch of winter 2018/19 season introduced leased CRJ1000 aircraft from Air Nostrum, operating on various European markets. As of 04JAN19, CRJ1000 aircraft operates following routes for winter 2018/19 season.

Brussels is back up to 4x daily for winter with the addition of a Cityjet CRJ9. The other three flights remain a mix of A319 and A320.

Would prefer TAP themselves but hopefully they will see the demand is there via this code share
TAP have never shown any interested in BHX at all but surely BHX - LIS would be a winner ?

Clear indication of demand and gets people using BHX even if via BRU. Need more of this. Suggests to me that they see connections via the continent as important if not more than the alternatives within the UK.

Summer is showing 4 flights a day on weekdays, but only 1 departure each day at weekends, all flights on the Cityjet CR9s again!

On which dates? looking at the Summer Peak week of the 10th August, still showing 3x daily mid-week!

4 flights a weekday until 26th June, then peak season it varies between 2 or 3 flights a day, with the evening flights sometimes an A319, then back to 4 a day from the 31st August.

Ahead of this flights will restart from Edinburgh and Glasgow to Frankfurt in August, followed by Shannon in September…
