I follow football (round and oval ball varieties).

Hopefully that does not include the dreadful American game. I watched the Superbowl, but am still non the wiser. Why do they call it 'Football'? The ball is hardly ever in contact with the foot. And then there is the touchdown. Simply catching a ball when beyond a line is a 'touchdown'? I give up!
I'm with you, TLY. Football (proper football), Rugby and Cricket (not in any particular order).

Regards

Kevin

I heard when the poles get reversed we will be driving on the right, is that right if you are standing on the right, or possibly on your left if standing on your head, what if you have no awarness of right or left, and dont like middles, or edges.

Like you Kevin, American Football is a mystery to me. I've tried watching it but most of the time the 'action' seems to consist of brief flurries of high speed running followed by what seems like several minutes gathered around the coach to decide what tactic they might try next.

One of my grandsons is a fan and has watched games both in the USA and at Wembley. He is a supporter of one of the teams but I don't know which. He also plays both football - association football to give it its formal name - and cricket both at decent club levels, so he's not all bad, although the debit side comes into play a bit because he's also an active Spurs fan and follows them abroad at times.

I quite like Australian Rules although it seems anarchic (the game that is, not the fact that I quite like it), despite not being sure I understand many of the rules but I do know how points are scored, and Gaelic Football which to me seems a slightly more civilised version of Aussie Rules (not by much) played with a round ball instead of an oval one as is the case in Oz.

The point about calling American Football 'football' is a valid one given the near absence of kicking in the game. To an extent rugby is like that because kicking the ball is sometimes discouraged although the game has a more valid claim to the term 'football' than American Football.

I now look forward to American Football fans telling us we don't know what we are missing. I'm always open to persuasion on most things but thus far I've not been converted to the game (do they call kicks at goal 'conversions' in American Football?)

My Dad used to watch American Football back in the day. I have vague memories of Dan Marino (I think he played for Miami?) and an impressively built player nicknamed 'The Fridge', who I think played for Chicago?

Similar to posters above I've tried watching American Football but it's not really for me.

I'm too nervous to even think about tomorrow :nailbiting:
It's the hope that kills, don't worry it's just the same for us on the other side of the divide:sick:

There is an interesting piece in the Independent about the Second City derby, it's linked below and well worth a read.

This paragraph just about sums the whole thing up

The March 2003 encounter at Villa Park was one of the all-time great Premier League fixtures, featuring another Enckelman howler, two red cards, a 21-man brawl, rucking in the stands, Savage being headbutted by Dion Dublin and then being substituted for his own safety, and striker Geoff Horsfield ending the game in goal.

Dan Marino did indeed play for my team Miami Dolphins (think Ace Ventura).
I personally love the NFL and Will be going again to Miami this November plus the Wembley dates. I just wish I could fly from BHX instead of LGW via Norwegian. Please Primera, you would have a guaranteed 5 passengers return.

May the best team win the brummie derby. As a baggies season ticket holder I'm hoping for a blues win as collateral for a derby next year if WBA don't turn it around....

Now that was what you call a proper game.

By the way don't worry about tomorrow dog is quietly confident and is currently fast asleep in front of the fire although I'm slightly worried as it's got its paws crossed?

Highlights of that game.

Like most fans I moaned like crazy at the time but what I'd give to have some of those players now.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
