Would it treading on toes if I suggested Messrs. Sullivan and Gold had more than a small part in the current state of BCFC?

Now at West Ham, they have left the Upton Park and are now tenants of a stadium they have little say over non football useage and Ms.Brady has been enobled to a peerage.

I get no pleasure seeing Birmingham City in difficulties as my own team is being milked by certain American businessmen I shall not name on a public forum.

Well at least Sullivan, Gold etc left us solvent after buying the club when it was on the verge of bankruptcy for £5 or was it a quid? plus taking on the debt got us in and left us in the Premiership after getting us in the old third division first, rebuilt most of the ground and gave us endless entertainment with dear old Barry Fry before appointing proper management in Bruce and Alex Mcleish.

Seems quite attractive to me given the state of affairs currently. As I've said before prefer cricket these days probably an age thing and thats getting money dominated just like football but at least the spectators can sit together share a beer or two or three and somehow don't feel the need to knock seven bells out of each other

I thank Rollo for reminding me of certain facts that escaped my memory and I enjoyed Barry Fry as he livened up the game off pitch. I too have gravitated to cricket but the Test arena only. And I believe age has a lot to do with it for the amenities mentioned.

To be able to follow TMS on a radio via headphones, to read the latest law reports with a glass of pleasure and NOT get verbally assaulted is my idea of a civilized day out! With the exception of a day at BHX.....

I am tired and weary of competition being screwd up by points deduction as it does not reflect in historical records. You win 3 games of football for zero points. Whatever the indiscretion the punishment should be limited participation in future editions of same competition I.e. ground closure or deduction from end of season prize money or limitation of TV monies. The players earned those point yet what is the directors sanction?

Rweknapp spent 23 million! Grrrrr. I am not, never have been and never will ne a fan of that man. He has left a trail of carnage.

Well done to Monk and the lads for what they have achieved.

Happy Harry said yesterday that he had no say in rhe transfer deals and it was "nothing to do with me gov".
Also he went on to say that the moon is made from cheese

One or maybe both of the above is complete b******s.

The thing about punishing financial irregularities with large fines, restrictions on prize and tv money etc, but without points deduction, is that there are club owners who would be quite content to take that on the chin if it meant their club could retain all its points and in so doing remain in its division or be promoted, as the case may be.

That would also mean that a club that abided by the rules but just missed out on promotion or was relegated because the club that did not escaped a points sanction would in effect be punished for its honesty.

All this is particularly relevant in the Premier League/Championship area because of the huge riches on offer in the Premier League. A club would have to be fined many tens of millions of pounds for it to counterbalance the advantage of remaining in or reaching the Premier League.

I would like to see points deductions also used for clubs that reach a given number of cautions and red cards in a set number of matches. That might put an end to some of the cynical behaviour on the field where players cheat blatantly in order to try to prevent a goal being scored against their team. It sickens me when I hear commentators and football people speaking of 'professional fouls' or 'taking one for the team'.

Incidentally, in my book owners/directors of clubs found guilty of irregularities would still be heavily fined and banned from taking part in football activities for a number of years. Managers would also be punished where their players exceed the red and yellow card 'ration'.

I agree with Local Yokel even though its "my team" that is suffering a points deduction is the only thing that will make clubs pay attention. It looks like Villa, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday are potentially next in line now the precident has been set with Blues.

The West Country edition of today's Metro carried a multi-page spread about Birmingham. It was primarily an advertising feature but there was a summary of the city's history, its present and future, with lots of pictures of many of the current major building developments. The theme was that Birmingham is rapidly turning itself into a major European city. It might be that this feature was carried nationally in Metro.

Recently Metro has also been listing in its West Country edition all the Jet2 flights from BHX in another advertising feature, which it did at times last year.

I like the sound of that Yokel (y)

I’ve mentioned this before but now the 737 MAX8s have had their name plagued with tragedy, i think we all agree airlines aren’t going to go around flaunting the fact they fly them.

TUI to begin with said all of the MAX ops would be primarily LGW MAN etc where the big ops and big money are, does anyone think this will change?

I’m flying from EMA in the summer ( Going away with 8 lads to zante i wasn’t the lead on the booking otherwise it’d of been from BHX!)

I feel like suddenly (if they’re flying) theres a chance i’ll be on a MAX this summer

Opinions on that or do you guys think TUI will push on with the plans they have

A cautionary tale!

Five days after returning from Brasil where i had spent a few days in Rio de Janeiro i received an urgent letter from my bank NatWest asking me to call them urgently. They informed me that the equivalent of £327 had been drawn from my account and that further applications for around £2,000 were outstanding. Clearly a fraud in my opinion had taken place and the bank immediately returned the £327 to my account and terminated the other applications.

How could this happen, i did not even use my NatWest debit card in Brasil? The answer the bank told me was that either in a restaurant, bar, in the street, on the plane or somewhere else, someone had passed close to me with a device that could read my card's details. This was then cloned to another card with a new 'pin' and the card used.

I had thought i was doing everything right by making sure i did not leave the card in the hotel where it could have been stolen, but to keep it on my person - and SAFE!

What happened to me in Brasil could happen anywhere these days, nowhere is safe from fraudsters. So now i have determined never to take my UK debit cards abroad again and also when i do go out with a debit card in this country to always keep it inside a 'Faraday bag' a sleeve that prevents it being read by a fraudster.

We live in difficult times when nowhere and nothing is safe.

I will add that in my opinion NatWest were excellent: they identified the fraud in my opinion and alerted me straight away; immediately cancelled my debit card and issued me with a fresh one, gave me good advice and reimbursed my account immediately.

So, fellow posters, my advice is BE ALERT at all times.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
