Winter months are good for EK as it is Summer in Oz etc

November - March are also the peak season to visit Dubai as it’s the coolest time of year there (only circa 30c) and largely free of religious holidays!

May/June and Sept/Oct tend to be the quiet months for both EK and QR as they are often outside peak seasons for both countries

Qatar only have 12 and they are used only on certain routes ie Heathrow. They also have first class cabins.

A QR A350 would be more than suitable competition to the EK A380 out of Birmingham.

The QR 350s has their newest Qsuite business product, debatablely the best business class product in the industry (better than most first class products) and has 30 additional seats than the 787. So tgatcwould be the next ideal step for us ...or going 10x weekly

The B788 are going to start leaving the fleet soon and the B789 replacing them so
I guess they will be next for BHX

As @mullion pointed out the 788 are leaving the fleet from next year so its a matter of when not if we see a different aircraft type on this route.

An increase in frequency would be nice but would depend on what aircraft Qatar decides to send. An upgrade to the A359 and an increase to 10 weekly would be about a 60% increase in capacity. Just upgrading to the A350 would be an 11.4% increase whilst increasing to 10 weekly whilst keeping the 788 would be a 43% increase.

If Qatar are aiming for gradual/incremental growth, an change of aircraft to either the A359 or 789 when it arrives would be more compatible.

EMIRATES CELEBRATES ITS 1 MILLIONTH A380 PASSENGER FROM BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT

Milestone reached following launch of iconic Airbus A380 daily service in March 2016.

Emirates has recently celebrated its one millionth A380 passenger at Birmingham Airport. The milestone has been achieved just over two years after the inaugural flight of the iconic Airbus A380 in March 2016, and less than a year since the second daily A380 service launched in October 2017.

From Birmingham, passengers connecting through Dubai have travelled around the world with Emirates. Popular destinations on Emirates’ ever-expanding global network include Dubai, Bali, Mauritius, Hong Kong, Delhi and Sydney.

Richard Jewsbury, Vice President UK & Ireland, Emirates said:

“Emirates has been operating at Birmingham Airport for over 17 years and we’re delighted that, two years after the launch of the iconic A380 service in 2016, we’ve reached the one millionth passenger milestone.”

Tom Screen, Aviation Director, Birmingham Airport added:

“The partnership between Emirates and Birmingham Airport is one of the success stories of regional aviation in this country. The faith that Emirates have shown in the region over the almost 18 years is phenomenal and with two 615 seat A380’s per day flying from Birmingham, there is more opportunity than ever to travel to some of the incredible destinations on their network, such as Australia, China, Thailand, India and the Indian Ocean. We look forward to welcoming the next million passengers as the route continues to flourish.”

Emirates first launched its route to Birmingham Airport on 18 December 2000 as a daily service to Dubai, operated by a 278-seat Airbus A330. As passenger numbers have increased, Emirates has added more aircraft to the route, including the introduction of the daily double-decker A380 service on 28 March 2016 followed by the launch of the second daily service on 29th October 2017.

May have to dust off my B777 approval for the winter

I have asked a high end person about the temporary return of the EK41 but they didnt know anything, but wouldnt be suprised. Looks like duff gen from a service provider employee.

Hi long time lurker does anyone know why 37 was delayed for about 10 hours in Dubai a couple of days ago? I think it finally got in about 05:00 the next day.

If the aircraft went tech, you would think that being in Dubai, they'd have a spare!
