If the UAE is still on the red list after the next review, we won't be having daily flights from Emirates until the end of July at least.

Still, good to see them back even if it is only 3 times a week. We haven't had a regular scheduled wide body from any airline since January have we?

Remember that initially the flight will, if in line with Manchester, operate inbound as cargo only but can accept passengers on the outbound flight.

Pax are already booked on the inbound albeit not very many at the moment but that should rise.

Yes, but with the UAE being on the red list and therefore inbound passengers requiring hotel quarantine, are there really going to be enough passengers to sustain more than 3 flights per week?

I believe this still applies to transit passengers i.e. someone flying Singapore (Green List) - Dubai - Birmingham would still have to go into hotel quarantine (even having only been in Dubai airport for a few hours).

Pax and cargo both ways.

Unless the plan has changed in the last few days I believe it will park on stand 8C in T2 where passengers will disembark and once through UKBF they'll be escorted straight onto coaches and taken to their quarantine hotels. The aircraft will then be towed across to the usual spot in T1 where pax will depart as normal.

Loads should be good as pax going into dedicated red terminal and then red hotel which is only available at BHX and LHR, so pax will be redirected to BHX flight from other airports.

Well the EK039 has arrived and is currently on 8C at T2 being off-loaded. Looking at the pier on T1 I think it unlikely that the Aircraft will be towed across as TUI appear to have taken over their normal stand. I would say that the flight will depart from 8C as it makes more sense for the flight to be loaded (certainly cargo wise) from there instead of being moved across to T1. Is the EK lounge open in T1 at the moment?

It appears that CL44 is correct. I'm just watching FR24 and it's showing EK40 taxiing out from stand 8C.

Three class aircraft means one lot of crew can rest/sleep whilst the other operates inbound then swap over for the return leg.

I think that the flights maybe double crewed so one lot operate out and the second crew fly it back with nobody leaving the aircraft. I've heard on the BBC thats what BA were doing on flights to India.

I don't know if the crew stay for a day or two. However, if they did stay they would be exempt from enforced hotel quarantine.

With the UAE now off the red list, I noticed yesterdays flight arrived and departed from the international pier.

Also an increase in frequency to 10 per week by October:

The airline also says that by October it will deploy its A380 to Manchester on a double-daily basis and there will be 10 weekly flights to Birmingham and a daily service to Glasgow as already reported.

Don't know about anyone else but it made it sound like BHX was getting 10 A380 flights per week. Having checked they are still due to be operated by a B777-300ER however.

Still good news. Hopefully we may see Qatar come back by next spring.
