Why are so many airlines going bust We've had Monarch, Primera and now Colbalt and probably other ones as well.

I'm not too sure it's a trend as such. The airline business has always been a tough nut to crack. We have a thread in the Avgeek section detailing many of the airlines which have gone but not all of them.

Reported on dried plum by a regular poster that the suspension of Colbolts license has been revoked after a court appeal by Virgin Atlantic? The Cypriot Minister of Transport confirmed this yesterday after reports in the Cyprus press.

If this is so why would Virgin Atlantic be involved? I've no idea but just possibly they may be rescued.

I believe the slots Cobalt used at LHR were owned by VS?

I thought they were Aegean ones? Even so VS would get them back and be able to lease them out surely?

Virgin need to protect their asset via a court order otherwise risk loosing these slots under the 80% rule. This court order temporarily stops the clock
