Hi there all, referring to Cathy Pacific, so is there an agreement by Cathy Pacific, that they will announce shortly, flights from Bhx to Hong Kong. If this is correct, fantastic news.

Hi Andrew

There’s currently no agreement with Cathay Pacific that I’m currently aware unfortunately .My post on twitter is related to a prediction I have made .Feel free to check it out and drop my page a follow

My hopes for the next few years:
  • Continued expansion from Easyjet and Ryanair to hopefully increase BHX Market Share
  • Air India to Mumbai and increase capacity to Delhi
  • Cathey Pacific to Hong Kong
  • Finnair to Helsinki
  • Increased Capacity from both Qatar to Doha and Saudia to Jedah
...and a few curve calls...
  • Would love to see the return of Norwegian in its latest form. Scandinavia still very under represented from BHX, and
  • Would love to see Iberia back on Madrid offering onward connections

That is most sensible post I have read for a while :)

I wouldn't rule out Egypt Air, Ethiopian and Royal Air Maroc is the mid-long term

Realistically I can see by 2027

  • Air India to serve Delhi,Amritsar and Mumbai
  • Play airlines for connections to usa
  • Pegasus to serve Istanbul 2 daily and dalaman and Antalya
  • EasyJet to have 7 based aircraft and Ryanair to have 12 based serving 30+ destinations
  • Turkmenistan to come back but extremely unlikely
  • Aer lingus to bring back Cork,Shannon services
  • Wizz air to expand from Birmingham if their ever willing to

i would also state the introduction of a service to mainland China should also be on the cards. the only recent thing I can find on the agreement is this

"Under the new deal, passenger flights can now increase from the current maximum of 40 per week for each nation to up to 100. There will be no limit on the number of all-cargo services. The restriction on the number of destinations that airlines can serve has also been lifted, meaning services can be operated between any point in the UK and any point in China. Up until now, airlines could only serve 6 destinations in each country."

I would also like to see the return of Austrian Airlines to Vienna, they only operated from January 2020 to mid March 2020, before covid hit, i wonder why they never returned for?

These are my thoughts and predictions in 2025:

Part from the ones announced
  • Pegasus to go daily from Istanbul
  • PIA to make an appearance late March at 2 weekly
  • Away based Ryanair destinations:Gdansk,Rzezwow,Vienna,Athens,Rome
  • Play airlines 3 weekly Reykjavik
  • Tui airways Banjul winter seasonal
  • Cathay Pacific Hong Kong 4 weekly
  • Jet2 Enter Egypt Luxor

Why do members think that PIA will appear next year as they do not have any aircraft or money to lease them.

Some of us don't Seasider.

PIA are a basket case and not just for the reasons you give they keep announcing services to the USA are imminent however the FAA have said the won't be visiting Pakistan until February and any services could start in the second quarter at best.

They did add a little rider that non of the above will happen until PIA cough up the money they owe going back up to eight years, says everything about them really.

On a specific BHX note I personally don't want them impacting on any of the current operations byTurkish,Qatar, Emirates and Saudi who along with Air India serve the Indian sub continent pretty well particularly if Air India could add Mumbai to go with the Delhi and Amritsar services.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
