How long does folk think CWL-DOH is going to operate before it gets suspended (probably temporarily).
Much of the MEB3 traffic connects at Doha or in the UAE for Australasia and Asia. We know about the problems with China, and New Zealand now requires all incoming travellers to the country to undergo 14 days quarantine on arrival, much the same as Malta announced this week. Our daughter and family live in Australia and she told us today that Australia is now considering banning international travel and even some internal travel.

With more and more countries effectively shutting themselves off from the outside world I think it's a question of when not if MEB3 flights begin to be reduced in number and frequency. Whether this would include the Qatar CWL service only the airline would know unless government decree took the decision out of their hands. It would also depend for how long such closed borders last.

If I'm correct Doha doesn't have many cases of the virus but it'll be a case of wait and see. It seems that for the ME3 it's business as usual.
The biggest worry is TUI.

I was thinking more on the basis of low passenger numbers as no one is travelling anywhere in great numbers, rather than the virus being in qatar.

I suppose only time will tell whether they reduce frequency or stop the route but the way things are going no one will be able to fly anywhere from the UK. Country will basically be cut off from the world.

CWL's TUI base (like most others) is gone for the foreseeable future. Flights are exclusively to Spain and Cyprus, both of which TUI have completely cancelled.

There are likely to be inbound-only ops next week and then it could all go very quiet for some time unfortunately.
Most of TUIs fleet will be grounded until Turkey kicks back in and assuming that flights there don't get stopped. Let's hope that this is resolved quickly as the damage to airlines and tour operators and airports of all sizes will become irreparable.

I think the quicker we get on the with locking down everything, as damaging as it is, the quicker we can get through it and get back to normal.

The airport will be a pretty desolate place for a few months ,there are a few executive flights in and out. Let's hope that Cwl officers, can negotiate with airlines during the downturn, so that we will be ready to see more business when things get better.

Looking at the departures board tommorow has 6 and Saturday and Sunday 4 each.

Latest update according to Airlineroute:

Doha – Cardiff
23MAR20 – 30MAR20 Reduce from 5 to 3 weekly, 787-8 operating
31MAR20 – 31MAY20 5 weekly cancelled

Should then be back to daily from 1st June but I wonder if they might change it to 5 weekly depending on the circumstances.

Will Qatar come back to Cardiff ? A face saving way out for the CEO if yields are poor ?
Still down as restarting 1st June. I don't see why they wouldn't resume. The route in general has been doing well. Obviously we don't know about yields but they do get help for the route from the Welsh government via the marketing deal. Personally if I was going to be worried about an airline leaving Cardiff it would be Ryanair and TUI not Qatar Airways.

It'll all depends on the value of the feed into their network, passenger and cargo, that Qatar Airways put on flying from Cardiff. Remember the bulk of passengers departing CWL and arriving at CWL won't be coming from Doha but would have started their journey at another point with Qatar Airways helping to fill other flights in their network, it's a hub and spoke operation the same as KLM.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
