Anhui province is just to the west of Shanghai, so very well may be that they could block book seats onto any said Air China flight

That being said I think this (if it comes to fruition) will be mainly geared at China-domiciled tour groups.

Freight flight ?
I remember a few years ago it was muted about … MG

Maybe its for the new TUI in china campaign and they are going to use Air China ?

Surely BHX will be one of the airports that will offrer flights to China when these new TUI hotels are built ?

Be interesting to see what TUI use, if includes their UK arm.Dont have anymore widebodies on order.
Unless they slash other long hauls to accommodate.

A twist at BHX.. surely not 🙄🤣

Let's hope any flts have decent times this time..
If it is a charter, it will not be bookable from BHX so timings would not be relevant except for the inbound tourists.

On TUI, they tried China some years ago (maybe it was still Thomson then). Flights were LGW and MAN to Sanya. It was not a success - just too far and the resorts were apparently too sterile. I suspect these hotels are not being built for the European market.

I suppose anything will be better than nothing and great for the spotters. At the end of the day up until 2 weeks ago, the talk of Air China @ BHX would of been for the fairies, now it sounds like something is on its way, possibly ?

I have a feeling it will be a series of charter flights like a few years ago. To test the market, loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

I’m not sure it is as straightforward as ’testing the market’. Running a charter, a travel company approaches an airline which then provides the aircraft. It has nothing to do with the route development team, though they may separately be looking at the same route. Given that the charters would be inbound, it would provide little or no evidence about the UK end of the market.

Some years ago, people thought that China was a huge potential market for flights from UK. It has not panned out quite that way. A good example is how badly Hainan did on EDI-PEK first time round. Tricky market.

I am just quoting what our Mr Paul Kehoe said at the time of the Hainan charter flights out of BHX, I think he was the one who used "testing the market" ??

Which is why you will find some BHX forumers sceptical of news like this.

However we don't even know what these flights might be for so lets wait and see ;-)

Is it true Ian that Delta might be starting next July?
I’ve heard a tiny rumour.
I very much doubt Delta or any US carrier will be starting in the near future.
What was your source ?

The days of Chinese charters are long gone.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
