I leave the forum for 24 hours, and what do i miss?

The ghost of Paul Kehoe rises on the 'testing the water' with China, then the exhileration of actual flight to China, but with a 'twist'.

Almost immediately it is three flights a week and awooooooooa from BHX. But that's not all, we then have the thought there may be flights to Toronto for someone's aunty... Good times they are acoming...

And then, the bubble burst!!

The flights, which were be be cargo, are actualky going to Stansted.

The tension, the drama - just like watching the Baggies....kkkk
Watching the Baggies recently has been awful

Dont we have a Qatar 777 due in October Ant ?

I thought it was going to its "preferred airport "STN so was it ever really coming to BHX ?? 🤔
From what Ian has posted previously, my understanding was that BHX was a 'backup' (second choice) in case Air China didn't get their preferred slots at STN. I hope this service isn't for MG. It would seem so silly to go past BHX just a few miles from the MG facility, to then travel down the M6, A14 and M11 to get to STN.

I'm lost. Its a 130 Mile's difference between the two ??

So we know now it’s not happening. Is there any alternatives that the airport are looking at.Like increasing air India flights to daily or maybe something for aviation spotters to smile about
Just for clarity, the Air China flights were to have been cargo (hence my comment above, as to whether they are for MG now operating from STN). As for BHX looking for further expansion of services, I'm sure that like other airports they will be in discussion with many airlines. This process can however take many years as the airlines have to plan ahead with regards to aircraft fleets and crew.

I doubt BHX will be bothered. It would have be a lot of hassle for them to handle 3 times a week cargo 777F on the Elmdon.

The Elmdon area Is falling to bits.Hangar 2 in a poor condition the Elmdon Building rotting.Lot of maintenance required around the aprons.

BHX in 2018 took the general Elmdon area out of the latest masterplan and shoved it in the not sure what to do draw.

Although there was a plan to refurbishment the Elmdon building which seems to have been put back or dropped .

So with no regular widebodied schedules BHX won't have to spend any money on it,..mopping their brow in relief no doubt !

BHX have been regularly handling B747F flights. I don't see a 3 x weekly B777F as a problem.

Unless the situation has changed, the original Elmdon terminal has grade II listed status. As such, there are regulations governing it's upkeep.

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
