We are looking into securing direct flights to China in the near future
It's a very vague statement open to interpretation. Are they looking into finding somebody to start talks with or are they in talks? "near future" could mean anything you choose.
Was this a response somebodies inquiry? I think it's a polite way of saying none of your business.

It's like Blues putting out a statement that they are in pursuit of quality players with the aim of
a return to the premiership in the near future.
Nice to read if you are a Bluenose like me but that is what we want hear
and the same statement can be used next year.

They do put out that statement every year just as season tickets go on sale, never worked out any connection though.

Reported by User001 that Jet have announced a third daily flight from LHR(Yes that airport we are always reminded is full)
I agree with User001 frustrations that since the India-UK air agreements have been increased and airlines told to look outside Heathrow, they dont appear to be listening.
Hopefully in the case of BHX-india flights, Spicejet see that there is life outside of Heathrow. :cautious:

Whilst I too am frustrated by airlines reluctance to adding new routes (in particular long haul) to Manchester & Birmingham, I am equally frustrated by people almost constantly having a dig at Heathrow.

People have to remember it is serving one of the most globally significant cities in the world, as well as being one of the major hubs in Europe.

Airlines will nearly always choose Heathrow over regional airports - that's not to say those routes won't work from regional airports, but the London, Hub and Premium factors of Heathrow will often prove a more attractive prospect providing a better return than other destinations.

As for being "full", new slots are exceptionally rare at Heathrow. These new flights are the result of airlines selling (or leasing) slots to other airlines. Equally airlines such as BA can use larger aircraft on a reduced frequency (whilst maintaining a similar capacity) on route A, providing them with a new slot to launch route B. Airlines starting new routes tend to make bigger headlines than airlines ceasing routes.

Just like the North/South divide, the imbalances in airports across the UK won't be solved by having yet another moan about London & the SE, but by getting out there and showing off our respective regions.

That told me :p

Hi there ray and all, I totally agree with everything that coathanger16 said, all those that moan and slag off Heathrow need to understand that Heathrow and Gatwick are parents or big airports in this country, and that Manchester, Stansted, Luton, Edinburgh and Birmingham are all medium and smallish airports that are there to support the regional areas. But if all the regional airports are desperate to try and attract all airlines from flying from just Heathrow need to do some serious home into how they can persuade any airline to fly from their airport only, but that all depends on any deal they are offered by Heathrow, and could any other regional offer a better deal....Andyc

LAX: a possibility for BHX? I would guess that it would be very popular.

https://www.flightglobal.com/news/a...-reach-five-aircraft-next-year-iag-ch-437798/

But there is no mention of BHX so why would BHX be a possibility ?
Dont take this the wrong way mate but we really do need to be realistic. Of course LAX would be a great route for the airport but we dont currently have any flights to some other major US airports like Chicago/Orlando MCO or Miami.
Chicago would be a much better option for an airport like BHX becouse of its connections all across the USA. LAX at the moment is just a fantasy route until we can start punching above our weight on the US scene which at the moment we are not.

Level won't feature in the UK at this time as it runs off the IB AOC and union agreements within IAG means IB can't operate UK originating routes.

Once Level secures its own AOC, then it could feature in the future.

Hi there BrumX, I totally agree with what you say about Level airlines, they are based in Barcelona, with flights to los Angeles, they only currently has three aircraft, with more planned, but the statement only mentioned Barcelona where they are based, no mention at all about any uk bases only considering some european bases. So again checking for the right facts is paramount, otherwise will cause riple effect in believing Birmingham is next, when it hasnt been mentioned at all....Andyc

I hadn't known about the union agreements mentioned by User001. We are still European and airlines can and do operate from countries other than their origin to a 3rd country e.g. LOCOS in the EU, without connecting to their main bases. I therefore thought that BHX might be a possibility since there is no competition, the area is on the up and because something like that might be able to cast a wider catchment area than we currently enjoy to fill planes. After all (and extraordinarily to me) passengers from the Midlands and beyond choose to travel from Gatwick.

Sorry to have upset anyone ; additionally I don't start rumours and thought this was clearly just a question that I'd lke views on, so for that thanks.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
