According to a Congress MP Air Canada are to start flights to Amritsar after securing a bilateral agreement. It sounds as if it could be direct but it would be nice if it dropped in at BHX on the way to and from India.

This should at least make them consider it.

Air India had sprung a surprise by discontinuing its Amritsar-Birmingham-Toronto flight, which was termed by many as the most successful flight in the annals of the national carrier’s history. The flight, which used to witness over 90 per cent occupancy, was withdrawn on October 31, 2010.

Maybe Westjet could give it a go when they get their Dreamliners in 2019, I would love to see it return.

I saw it Kevin

Well unless Easyjet or Ryanair try it, then maybe someone could give it a go, but, they seem to be slowing down on their crazy route launching sprees of late.

I think i guessed it if i'm correct they already fly to Faro from several other airports in the UK but not Lisbon. If it is them then hopefully BHX isn't the only airport they are looking at operating it from!

I don't think Flybe will be starting long haul any time soon. More than likely they may look at med city routes with their E jets.

An update on the Brum X "Easyjet please come to BHX campaign"

Brum X asked

Now that Monarch have sadly gone, are BHX in talks with Easyjet ?

BHX replied
Hi Alan, We cannot reveal any negotiations that go on until new airlines or routes are officially confirmed and then we can make these kind of announcements.

;)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
