I'm not so sure that Wizz are on the retreat across the UK. I believe that they have very recently set up Wizz UK, registered at Companies House. This may indicate a shift in operation, but retreat hmm?

Kevin
In terms of the routes they've dropped recently it does seem they are in retreat for the present.
BHX, BRS, DSA and GLA have all lost routes.
A couple of route announcements to come soon
Involving two airlines and should fill in a bit more of the gap left by Monarch
Should include more long haul
Will they be filling in the gap just in pax numbers or also recovering some lost routes? :)

It'll either be a Scandinavian route or somewhere like the Canary islands

Toronto and.......
Another Canadian destination? It would explain the long wait. If it was a third US destination, I would have thought they would announce it alongside EWR and BOS.

My guess is Montreal. Can't think of anywhere else really.

Blooming well hope it is not another well served holiday destination. European capitals and major economic centres, please.

As for Canada....Vancouver?

Well if we are talking about Primera, they would have to do a Thomas cook/Jet2 and lease some A330's to do YVR

Can anyone give an indication of when these new routes/airlines be announced?

The run-up to Primera being announced was exhausting ;)

With regards to Primera, I'm not sure it would even be possible to fly to the Canaries (or even Malaga).

The Newark flight arrives into BHX at 10:30am and leaves for Newark at 17:45, giving the aircraft 7hrs 15mins. A return trip to Tenerife takes between 9.5 and 10 hours. Similarly, Malaga is approximately a 6.5hr round trip (plus 2 turnarounds at BHX - EWR-AGP & AGP-EWR).

On the other hand, a return trip to Stockholm takes 5.5 hours - so possible.

As to whether or not any potential 4th destination is long haul, I'm not sure how that can be done. 1 aircraft will be flying to Newark daily, whilst the other will be doing 4 flights per week to Boston. If Toronto is the third destination and is served 3 times per week, another aircraft would be needed to serve a 4th long haul destination (unless they made Toronto a seasonal summer destination with the 4th destination being seasonal winter).

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
