Re: Indigo

Is it my understanding that they plan on taking over the Air India "international" flights so if we did get Indigo is it a possibility they would just take over the Air India flight or would this be an additional airline for BHX-India ?

I think they have shown an expression of interest but so have Jet Airways and Spicejet.

Who knows what will eventually happen?

I hope we dont lose a National Carrier.

Oh my ...that’s an optermistic view if ever there was one! Especially given we were the fastest growing airport in the U.K. in 2017

True though, you hit the nail on the head with "were". Remind me how many airlines have gone including the biggest carrier at Birmingham.
I wonder how long Primark airlines will last once their sweetener start up deal ends, not having a good start so far.
Kehoe had a good idea what was coming and possibly left because of it.

oh that's the spirit....

I cant quite remember the list of airlines that have pulled out, a vast majority of which operated single routes, but I can remember that one of our based operators are more than doubling in size and and this is the 2nd year in a row we'll welcome a new base for a new airline.

And by biggest carrier, don't you mean 3rd biggest carrier!? Flybe (No.1) and Ryanair (No.2) are still very much present at the airport.

But that was the past, if we dont continue to add new airlines/routes we aint gonna be the fastest growing airport ever again.

For people who follow BHX and its route development, i have to agree BHX is a bit meh at the moment.

Lets hope the new CEO can put abit of umph back into BHX.

I do kind of agree that we tend to have an issue holding on to airlines long term. How many seem to disappear after 18-24 months or so?

That said I think we all knew that 2018 was going to be a tough year, if we could get a couple of new routes out of Ryanair for the summer it sure would take the sting out of things.

On a more positive note we still have an outside chance of one or two things later this year and there is lots bubbling away in the background for the future, I think we may just have to wait longer than we'd all ideally like.

Be that as it may and yes there has been a sucker punch or two, but again, credit where credit is due. Who of us 3 years ago would have said BHX would have been attracting nearly 13m pax? Have 2x of the MEB3 and 2x A380s a day? Have an 8x a/c Jet2 base? I suspect none of us. I also suspect none of us will have know (including the airport) that the UKs 5th largest airline would disappear off the face of the earth.

I have no interest in suggesting all is well at BHX, it has a challenging year ahead, the airport has achieved some pretty impressive stuff in the last few years, it just a shame a few of them have not stood the test of time!

Aaagh. The mysterious new CEO who we have been told has been appointed but would rather not let it known.
If they are working notice we can presume they do not hold a senior position at another UK airport.
So it could be somebody from outside the industry. I hope not.

I believe it is indeed someone from outside the industry but someone well known and regarded within the region. If what I have heard is correct, the they would not have to travel far ...but that’s just a rumour.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
