Hi there Ray and all, I think and know by now that easyJet have no intention of expansion at all at Birmingham airport, just keeping those three routes ticking over, where as in the next three to five years Jet2 I think might even try long haul on US, to see how it goes, if it works, then start to lease aircraft for it, my worse case scenario nightmare dream is if ever Emirates were to announce pulling out of Birmingham, I know that might never happen, but in BA case with the city high-flyer, they weren't probably expecting more than 50% loads, but if we're 70%, then that huge, realised that they can't commit anything further, now they are pulling out because the load factors were alot better than they were expecting, so hence pull them now... Never say never Andy (Re Easyjet)

Sorry was actually mean`t to say that the airlines are still adding routes so not Brexit.
I don`t understand BHX as they are either boom or bust no happy medium
We don't understand it either but we're bloomin fed up of it.

There's no planning ahead with new routes or airlines from Birmingham as you don't know if they will still be around when the time comes

Shall we just call it quits on this year? But before we all go I would Like to start a series of rumours that:

JAL coming with Tokyo.
Koryo with Pyongyang
Air Africaada with god knows where
Someone will increase capacity to Malaga, Palma and Lanzagrotte....zzzzzzzzzzz
Finnair, return of Icelandair, JetBlue, someone to China, TAP, the return (again) of VLM Mach 3....
Hey maybe even BHX to that new aircraft carrier we have
Who knows
The rumour speculation is not who will we get, but who will we have.

I give up. Been on here what 3 years and never felt to low....but....

...the truly awful film Take Me High was on TV today and I fancy a Brumburger! Thats what we need, the world needs .... a Brumburger! As Sir Cliff arrives in Brum, in said film, he says "this is worse than I thought". But he stayed. There is hope.

Back to the red wine and Sigur Ros CD.

:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Okay, have we now got the negative out of your systems and are you ready to restart normal service? Seriously I know things appear to have gone a bit "pear-shaped" for Birmingham routes at the moment, but maybe you could take some of these comments over to the General Discussion thread?

Only a suggestion, I'll leave other moderators to decide the best outcome.

Ps - feel free to move my post if you wish.

Airlines and new routes disappearing after only a season or two along with the pull out of some long term players, massive holes in the network looking like they are to remain that way for the foreseeable, sadly normal service has returned :(

As its gone gloomy here maybe this could hint at something positive in the future.
On the other forum someone has posted that a Titan 757 G-POWH which has been operating for Jet2 has operated STN-GIB and is currently operating GIB-STN. So unless they have operated charters for someone else then possibly could they be operating evaluation flights for a GIB route for Jet2?

I guess one of the main issues BHX faces is that with little or zero interest from big players such as Ryanair or EasyJet then they only have the legacy carriers or the oddballs to do business with. When the legacies are doing well and looking to expand U.K. ops then BHX is a logical progression - at the same time however when things aren’t going so well BHX becomes the first casualty, it’s the classic last in, first out scenario.

Off course there’s are things out of the airports control - the closure of Wizz’s Poznan base can’t be blamed on BHX for example. However the cynic in me might find it strange that BA CityFlyer dropped BHX and BRS but continue MAN and STN which both happen to be owned by MAG! Coincidence?

The darkest hour is just before the dawn

The EDI route varies between 5 and 7 weekly until April when it gets fixed in place at daily. "Not to do with number of passengers booked" is the line that's being spun.

Apparently they are to do with the motor industry. Is this a similar set up to all the extra flights and capacity we had on Munich flights in the past???
Don’t worry though they won’t last long.If poor loads/yields don’t get to them then Brexit will.

An extra Lufthansa rotation has been rumoured for a while.

I saw an article the other day about Lufthansa wanting to enlarge their hub at Munich. They've already shifted some A380's from Frankfurt, and the article said they were moving some routes across and were considering moving more A380's. So an extra rotation to Munich would make sense - let's just hope it doesn't come at the cost of one less to Frankfurt!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
