On the slight chance it may be Pegasus, I would appreciate a private heads up as I'm just about to book a flight to STN... obviously BHX is my absolute first choice. If it's not Pegasus....then STN it is 👍

Pegasus have been rumoured for 18 months but have never taken the plunge.Perhaps next summer?

Next big thing for BHX probably the 2nd EK 380 from April and a Qatar upgrade ?

Ian you tease. Assuming Air China cargo whats the will it won't it. Youve already said gone to STN. is there a second story to this

These are the 18 new air routes with La Palma that Tourism will finance with 1.3 million

The aim of the grant is to open La Palma to 10 European markets with direct flights to Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden and the Uk

The Flight Development Fund Programme is taking shape. Last August, the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jessica de León, announced an allocation of 1.3 million euros to subsidize the creation of new direct and international routes with La Palma airport and thus favor the economic recovery of the island.

Now, the Ministry has approved the bases of the call and presented the final list of the 18 routes that are intended to be created, with some changes with respect to the 10 strategic markets that were announced in August: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Destinations

Thus, the list of the 18 eligible destinations remains, pending the airlines' willingness to establish the routes, as follows: for the Austrian market, a route to Vienna will be subsidized. For the Czech Republic, there will finally be no subsidised routes under this heading. The Belgian market enters in its place with Brussels.

For the Nordic countries, Denmark will be subsidized the connection with Aalborg airport, Helsinki for Finland, Oslo for Norway and Stockholm for Sweden. France and Germany will have three eligible routes each to the cities of Paris, Lyon and Nantes in the case of France; and Hanover, Leipzig and Nuremberg in the case of the Teuton.

The Ministry of Tourism also plans to finance routes to Dublin (Ireland), Milan (Italy), and Warsaw (Poland) in the Schengen area. Outside of this, the British market, so powerful in the Islands, will also have its chance: Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh, in England and Scotland, complete the list of direct routes that Tourism wants to subsidize for La Palma.

Conditions

Now is the time for European airlines to move their chips to bid for these funded destinations. The obligations to which they will have to commit will be several. First, maintain operations for two years, or, where appropriate, two consecutive summer or winter seasons, counting from the week of commencement of operations proposed by the airline in the subsidy application. In addition, the airline will have to choose one of the three previous options: annual, summer or winter route. That is, you will have to specify it.

On the other hand, the airline must commit to operating at least one weekly recall. The total capacity to operate, expressed in minimum number of arrival seats at the destination airport per year, will be 9,360 in the case of selecting the annual route; 5,460 seats for the summer; and 3,900 for the winter

ACL Summer is usually around Nov 1st, then the week after that it is published to the website.
(ACL Winter reports are published same dates in June)

ACL have said to me previously that they will be published first half of November although this was a few months ago now.

Report day is like Christmas for airport fans !

So Ian what’s going with Turkmenistan airlines. You said they could come back to bhx before end of the year a couple of months ago.I’ve noticed that they have just announced they will be flying from London Heathrow.

Also I noticed Easyjet have pushed back many destinations for next summer. My question for is why are they pushing back Berlin flights when the Euros is happening in Germany and i thought the airport’s ambitions were to increase flights to bhx .

Most likely Wednesday November 8th if summer2023 / winter2023 is to be repeated. It is released to the general public around a week after being published

Yeah would say the first 3 are very much do-able within 10y

New York- JetBlue yes most likely candidates, although will be 2026+, the next 4 cities to be launched in 2024/5 are a pretty poorly kept secret
Toronto- Air Transat likely 3 4 weekly in the summer as you say.
Mumbai- Definitely the most likely in the short term however I feel beyond S24 now
Hong Kong- Honestly cant see this one. I don't think Hong Kong will ever fully recover from the protests / Covid; Beijing much more attainable imho

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
