Hi there Matt995, why do you use the phrase* support the air more, don't keep knocking it*, I m not knocking the airport. Why would I want to knock my own airport, when I only live 40 minutes from it. Only a last resort would I use a rival airport, whereas Birmingham airport is my local airport and nowhere else. I do think that the airport needs to look at it's own business model, to see where it can improve it and allow it to try and grow and expand the airport further. To increase its passenger numbers more and further, so that its slowly catching Edinburgh, Luton and Manchester, this is what the airport needs, but after hearing and seeing reviews where passengers that live in the Warwickshire and West Midlands area are forced to using rival airports, because of the increased cost from airlines at Birmingham airport, whereas other airlines are charging less, because of the charges that Birmingham airport imposes on airlines that use the airport for business destinations. So I'm 100 per cent support behind Birmingham airport, yet the airport doesn't help it self. AndyC.

Given that WizzAir and Ryanair are quite happy at BHX, can it really be true that BHX is imposing higher fees than other airports? Michael O’Leary would have a lot to say about that. If there is a problem attracting airlines to BHX, and I have seen no evidence of it, it must be for other reasons.

I know wizz have a big market in Europe but I don’t see why they cut Polish routes that have demand like krakow that has 3 low cost carriers on the route offering nearly 15 weekly flights. I did not see the point of closing routes that had population on them .Warsaw was odd.Tirana maybe understandable and poznan a route that Ryanair have gained.Love to see a wizz air expansion from Birmingham

As mentioned many months ago, Wizz Air hit problems both financially and with late Airbus deliveries. They decided to consolidate bases and routes for the time being.
Aircraft deliveries remains a reason for now. EasyJet suffering the same problem.

maybe these routes just wern't making enough money for Wizz? - I don't think they are in expansion mode either at present.

and don't forget Wizz have around half of their A321neo grounded at present with the know issues with the Pratt & Whitney engine, they don't expect the issues to be sorted until 2026, so they are well short of aircraft. Maybe we might expect something from them in 2026?

I’m on a group on X if anyone wants to join .Peeps are saying bhx should get Chinese routes within the next 2 years.💀

I do think USA flights will start again in 2026 for World Cup and I think play airlines will come.

Any speculation on sky express coming to Birmingham?

If true, which seems very unlikely, could it be PIA leasing in capacity? PIA does not have the aircraft to consider much beyond Paris and, maybe, MAN.

It would make sense with the rushed recruitment timeline for Norse crew based out of Gatwick to operate the flights…

If their wanting to start flights in early Jan 2025 then they would have to put flights on sale within the next 2 weeks surely and what website would the tickets go on sale.Norse or PIA?

This might make sense there's an article in Flight Global three days ago that Norse are to wet lease out six aircraft next year to a reputable International airline with the first two in February.

Of course whether you consider PIA to be reputable is another thing.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
