I don't think the Beijing Capital news was what PK was referring to on his tweet.

Firstly, it's not confirmed yet (not saying it won't happen but at this stage it's just an application), and also he seemed to be catching up with the news after it was leaked, rather than giving the heads up first that he seemed to do earlier.

Lastly, he seems to have got the info wrong by saying it was 2 weekly PEK rather than 1 PEK and 1 HGZ. Also, these flights had no bearing on the rugby to which he seemed to hint at the time.

Like I say, I don't think this news was the original news he teased about......

I agree with User001, especially when you read this section of the routesonline press release....

"Although Beijing Capital Airlines has made an official application to the CAAC to serve Birmingham, it is understood to have only held informal discussions with the airport’s management and no agreement has yet been reached should it get the green light from Chinese authorities to serve the market. CAAC is seeking formal replies to the request before ruling on the application after November 10, 2015."

I suspect this is not the news that PK was hinting at, this is just a pleasant curve ball....

Thomson have their long haul Winter 2016/7 on sale no new routes but certainly there is an expansion in service with several routes served more than once a week,
CUN will operate Mon,Thu and Fri (twice weekly on all dates but on different days)
PUJ will operate Wed and Sat (ops weekly but on different days and all through Winter)
MTB will operate Tue and Sun
BGI will operate Sun (for whole season)
SFB will operate on Thu for a short season (March and April 2017)
Daza

To be honest I wasn't expecting anything so that's a nice surprise, especially when added to the new route to Dubai :good:

If P&O do BGI too I think so the timetable as it is shows the services changing days of operation in March/April 2017
Daza

I've just had a look at what is bookable (the TOM online timetable isn't usually the most reliable).

I can see

Montego Bay - Tue & Sun
Cancun - Mon & Thur
Barbados - Sunday
Punta Cana - Wednesday

If we assume that Friday and Saturday will be the usual P&O Barbados flights then that makes eight departures per week with two on Sundays. Dubai is showing on a Monday from 19th Dec until 13th March but is not bookable.

I can see the Sunday MBJ being dropped meaning we'll have a daily departure with a Gatwick 787 doing the Dubai flights. Either that or we're on the verge of finally getting a possible second 787 on certain days although I'll believe that when I see it.

I was under the impression that there was an announcement due this week. It's possible that it has been put back (the Qatar announcement was delayed a week) unless it happens tomorrow.

I suppose Istanbul can be included in the long haul list. I know it's only 4.5 hours, but the vast majority of passengers are connecting eastwards from Istanbul.

A great rundown of all the competition at BHX.

It also has emerged today that the west also has a different battle on our hands and this is called "terrorism" it is looking more and more likely that Sharm el sheikh will become another Enfidha and simply disappear from the BHX departure boards, what a sad day of affairs.

Its a day like today that i think about the poor holidaymaker and the guy behind the desk trying to work out what to do now with my planes ????? Its not a job i would relish right now.

Shame, just a shame.

I feel for the hoteliers, restaurateurs and bar owners who rely on tourism for a living. One of my colleagues has family who run various businesses in Sharm and they're worried sick

someone can always ask him on twitter.... he cant make a public statement like that without expect the public to question it if its not delivered!!!

great run-down ray!!!

Hi Ray great list of BHX schedules for 2015/16.I was just wondering why you all are putting the Beijing Capital Airlines charters in all the lists when they are not really confirmed yet,?

Yeah and the EK A380 ??

For the same reason that the Manchester lists I've seen have included Shaheen Air when all we've seen is an article from a travel agent saying reps told them that the flights were to be made available, in fact I saw it mentioned that it was supposed to be bookable from Nov 1st but it still isn't. The MAN lists also include daily flights to SAW which as far as I can see are not bookable but come from an interview with the VP saying they 'would like' to start flights. I have no problem with that at all, it's as solid as info is going to be, similar to an application to the CAAC for flights and conformation of such from the airport CEO.

Yeah and the EK A380 ??

Because Emirates will be using an A380 from May!!

If people prefer then I'll delete it until such time as everything becomes bookable!

I think until its confirmed, maybe it should not be on the list. Thats just my opinion though.

;)

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
